The mobile version of iCal hasn’t had the greatest start from a non working App at Macworld to a watered down version on the iPod Touch, it lacked many things that made the desktop version of iCal rock. A recent dissection by Erica Sadun shows that Apple may be prepping Task syncing to the iPhone.

A piece of code found in the latest Firmware update points toward possible Task support on the iPhone.

ATE TABLE Task (ROWID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, summary TEXT, priority INTEGER, due_date INTEGER, completion_date INTEGER, calendar_id INTEGER);.

Its inconclusive whether or not this will be actually implemented and as we’ve reported before, possible features or Apps aren’t implemented right away just because code on the iPhone says different.

To further disprove suspicion of creating a fake Firmware on a level that Apple would be envious of, Andru Edwards of Gearlive answers more questions about the 1.1.3 update and posts a screenshot of his about screen showing his Firmware number is in fact 1.1.3.

The picture below shows that Andru is running 1.1.3 but blocks out his serial number and build number to protect his source. Some hopes are dashed such as SMS forwarding, MMS support and A2DP Support.

Last week, it was someone complaining about the $200 price drop on the iPhone. Today, it’s a California resident, Timothy Smith, claiming that Apple has violated state antitrust laws by forcing you to use your iPhone with AT&T, preventing unlocking for other carriers, and bricking phones that have been unlocked. Very similar to Damian Fernández’s lawsuit.

Smith doesn’t quote a figure for damages in the suit, but asks for an injunction that would bar Apple from selling the iPhone with a software lock in place. At the moment, Smith is the only plaintiff in the suit.

Now you really have no excuses. If you read this blog you a) Either have an iPhone and what to be kept up on the latest, b) Really really want an iPhone. Well, if you are in the B camp for the first time since the iPhone shipped all Apple stores are showing it in stock. So this weekend you have no excuses. Now, if you are on the fence thinking, I should wait for Rev 2., is the iPhone really that great just stop all those negative thoughts.

The iPhone really is that great.

And Rev. 2 is going to come via a software update, so don’t worry about that.

According to Apple Insider, Apple has paid a small technology company a 7-digit figure for domain iPhone.com.

The domain, which was purchased back in 1995, is owned by Michael Kovatch who runs a technology company called The Internet Phone Company. Apparently Apple deemed it necessary to own the domain as the link between iPhone.com and its own iPhone device is a no-brainer and has therefor paid one of the biggest known sums of money in history.

The news was first broadcast on DomainTools who mention that Kovatch had already previously turned down an offer from Apple to sell the domain. 

Apple hasn’t said officially what version of Safari the iPhone is running but I have strong reason to believe it definitely isn’t Version 2. It Could be Version 3 which currently is in Beta for OS X and Windows or it could even be Version 2.x.

I recently accessed Google Docs on my iPhone to finish up some Blog postings and was shocked that no error message was displayed. The thing is, Google Docs is unsupported on Safari 2.0.4 which is the latest version of the Safari 2 for Mac OS X. However Google Docs works on Safari Beta 3 under 10.4.10. This leads me to believe Apple has made changes to Safari besides adapt it to the iPhone’s touch interface.

For weeks we were lead to believe that the iPhone didn’t have a SIM card slot, as it would only be running on AT&T’s network and therefore wouldn’t require a removable SIM slot.

But today Think Secret has posted some pictures, albeit unconfirmed at this stage, that with the use of a simple paper clip the SIM slot can be removed and a new SIM card can be installed. I suppose we’ll hear more stories of this as the iPhone is released into the public later on this evening. Bare in mind though folks, this is merely a rumour at this stage.

You’ll also notice in the image above that there is a new iPhone dock which will allow, most probably, the charging of the official Apple Bluetooth Headset.

I didn’t see this coming, the website http://reader.mac.com appears to be iPhone only, as it refuses to load in Safari and Firefox (I’ve not tried any other browsers).

As it’s hanging off mac.com, can we assume this is an Apple website or one created by an iPhone developer? Also, the site states “This Application is viewable only on iPhone” - perhaps with ‘reader.mac.com’ as a name, can we assume this is an RSS reader? Only one more day to find out!

Apple has recently updated its iPhone photo gallery to include what appears to be the iPhone Dock.

Whether or not this is included with the iPhone remains a mystery, at least for another 9 days and it’s not known whether or not the dock will allow Mac/PC-to-iPhone connectivity or simply just act as a stand for the iPhone, which would prove to be pretty pointless, wouldn’t it?

There’s also some pictures of the iPhone headphones which should hopefully come included with the iPhone, and yes, they’re the same headphones as used by the iPod. Happy days!
