Poll: Do you want to view web pages mobile-friendly on your iPhone?
Before the iPhone, web developers went to a lot of effort to code mobile-friendly variants of their web pages. Of course, the iPhone changed all that, allowing web pages to be viewed as they were originally intended and coded. But I stills see talk of coding for mobile devices. I don’t know about you, but that is oh so 2006 for me. I tried mobile variants of web pages on my iPhone but hated them.
So, a little pop poll, do you want developers to continue to develop mobile friendly web pages to view on your iPhone?
(A) Yes, definitely, the tiny screen drives me nuts for viewing web pages normally
(B) Maybe… for some…
(C) No way, the iPhone displays pages the way they’re meant to be seen and that’s what I like and the zooming works great.
So in the comments, let us know which you reckon or if you have a different answer.

Chances are you ended up shopping this weekend even if it wasn’t what you wanted to do. You know the drill, one minute you’re all about football or beer and the next minute you’re standing in the local Target shopping for stuff you don’t want, stuff the people you’re going to give it to don’t want but stuff the store still wants to sell you. The upside? You might run across something interesting. For example, as I was stranded between some guy salivating over an iPod (this guy wasn’t moving until someone opened the case) and a clearly disturbed person frantically wondering how he could pass video cables off as a thoughtful present. This happenstance meant I could stare at the salivating iPod guy, watch the mental somersaults of an increasingly persperation soaked consumer or look at the merchandise. On on side of the aisle there were Zunes to look at but the other side had phones. The prepay kind, the dregs of the cellular world.
I thought the LG enV was frickin awesome. Well it looked awesome, understated stuff but you could flip it open and BAM, full keyboard and biggish screen. I… more...
Have Your Dropped Your iPhone Yet
![]()
It hurts me to see technology destroyed, especially expensive technology. It even hurts me to see a tiny little scratch where normally someone would not notice.
The iPhone is one of my most prized possessions so fortunately, I have not manage to have it slip out of my hands. However, being too careful can be just as dangerous as being butterfingers himself.
Recently, a friend of mine dropped his iPhone - not once - but twice, and he ended up having to buy another one for the unsubsidized price of $499.
Of course, those two times were accidents, but some people love to destroy technology. If you have a strong stomach, take a look here to see some pictures of an iPhone that was not so much an accident.
What we at iPhone Matters would like to know is have you ever accidently/purposefully dropped, threw, kicked, dunked, sank, smashed, etc. your iPhone? I hope not, but if you have a story to tell, we’d love to hear about it!

Are You Happy With the 3G Battery Life?
After 48 hours with my 3G iPhone I must say that I noticed a huge difference in battery life compared to the first gen iPhone I have been using for the past year.
I was on a plane for most of the day yesterday and had my iPhone off for about 8 of the 18 hours I was awake. Before my flight, during my layover, and after I landed I had my iPhone on and checking email, surfing the web, and downloading a few applications. This brought my battery down to almost nothing by the time I went to bed. Needless t say this may be interesting when I have my iPhone on all day.
What has your experience been with the battery life of your new 3G iPhone? And has it met your expectations before buying? Take our poll below.

Well, it is June a again. The new iPhone is just around the corner. To get ready for the new 3G arrival I have dropped the ball and chain. That is I have sold my old iPhone. Within an hour of posting an ad to craigslist I had an offer. My buyer wants to pay $400 for my used iPhone. Why the high offer? It maybe because it was the first iPhone sold in California. It maybe because iPhones are hard to find. It may be any number of reasons. All I know is that I am ecstatic. The feelings and excitement of last year are coming back. I am free to feel excited, as I now have the revenue to support the 2nd generation iPhone. I will miss my iPhone, it served me well.
How about you? Will you be selling your current phone to support your wallet? When do you think is the opportune time, before demand for the 1st generation phone goes down?

Should Apple Have Waited to Announce the iPhone SDK?
When Apple announced last year that am iPhone SDK was indeed on its way, it got iPhone users and developers excited anticipating the February delivery date. But now that the SDK has been delayed and February is on its way out the door, I wonder whether Apple would have been better off just announcing it when it was ready. What do you think?

Mike Elgan of Computerworld is predicting a new iPhone this summer. Elgan cites the amazing but less than expected iPhone sales numbers released by Apple as one of the reasons why iPhone 2.0 is inevitable this summer or fall at the latest.
“The only way Apple could possibly feel “confident” of reaching 10 million units by the end of 2008 is if the company were to sell more iPhones during next year’s holiday season than it did during the 2007 season. And the only way to do that is to sell to existing users. And the only way to do that is to come out with a new iPhone.”
This may very well be the strategy that Apple is planning. But are iPhone users ready to pony up for a new model? Despite the current gripes by existing iPhone owners for the lack of 3G, true GPS, software flexibility, and Outlook support, will those same people be prepared to pay for another iPhone only half way through their 2-year contract?
For me, a new iPhone with all of the above additions is a must-buy. But I am a member… more...
How Many More Firmware Updates Until We Get Copy/Paste?
Whoops. Looks like I forgot about copy/paste again. Apple had me so excited with the new features, I forgot about the basics. Greg reminded me with his previous post on what he didn’t like about the new firmware update. As much as I do love the new features on my phone, I am a bit upset about not having the basics. Why does Apple blind the average consumer with so many unnecessary, but awesome, features. Yet another update comes along, bringing with it many exciting features. Only one question remains. How many firmware updates must we install before we get copy/paste? What do you guys think? My guess is that at least one more will come out before we finally get the update we have been waiting for.
So my answer to Greg’s question is… no. After further reflection I realized that I was not satisfied with this update. Though I do not think 1.1.3 was a bad update, it could have had more features. So Apple, either release your updates more often or have better quality.
