Duck Hunt for the iPhone Without the NES Hack

As I reported a few days ago, there is a new hack that allows iPhone users to play classic Nintendo games on their phone. But for those who want that classic game feel without the hacking, there is another way. By coding the game as a Safari application you could conceivably play through the website. But who would take the time to code such a thing?
Thanks to Deron Dantzler, a 24 year old Applications Analyst, you will be able to play Duck Hunt on your iPhone right now. Wondering how you can aim your NES Gun at the tiny iPhone screen? You have your trusty fingers to pick off those birds.
The only problem? No blowing on the cartridge if it doesn’t work. ![]()

The guys at Download Squad seem to have uncovered some serious evidence that games are coming to the iPhone. When checking the localisation strings of iTunes to check on whether iTunes Video Store for the UK could be an option, they discovered a few lines that give us hope games are not too far away for the iPhone.
/* ===== iPhone Game Item Strings ===== */
“4329.001” = “Are you sure you want to remove the selected game from your iPhone?”;
“4329.002” = “Are you sure you want to remove the selected games from your iPhone?”;
According to Download Squad:
Given that there are currently no games shipping with the iPhone to remove, and certainly none available on the iTunes Store to add, that hit us like a bombshell: Apple seems to be readying games for the iPhone.
Are you excited about the possibilities of games on the iPhone?

![]()
Last week, I posted about a rather addicting game called Bejeweled. As addicting as it is, the game can get old so I searched for some more games and came across a game portal for your iPhone. Like I said last week; I don’t play games on my iPhone often, but this web app might change that.
Two programmers have relaunched MyiPhone.pl as a nice game portal with a new game each week. This week, they released Mastermind which is an interesting board game that I am not quite sure if I like yet. In addition to that game, there is Bejeweled and Sudoku with a new game scheduled to be released on the 13th of August, 2007.

Let’s check out the video first.
You too can play your fave NES games on your iPhone. Apparently it is slow, has no sound, and the controller is buggy but it’s a start! I’m jonesing for a little Castlevania right now.

I never really played games on a cell phone, but for some reason, I want to now. PopCap has released a brand new version of their popular Bejeweled puzzle games exclusively for the iPhone. It is a pretty fun and addicting game. The price of the game for users is an astonishing $19!
However, us iPhone users get to play for free. Go ahead and point your Safari browser to PopCap and play the iPhone-specific version of the original match 3 puzzler games. This appears to be the only iPhone-specific game from the company to date, but I hoping more will be released very soon.

Now this is what I’m talking about! Tilt is the first motion controlled game made only for the iPhone. it’s simple. It’s basic. And it’s a brilliant use of the unique technology built into the iPhone. Dubbed the iPhone game in 1.5 dimensions, it is a great start to what is sure to be a robust offering of iPhone related games.
Developed during the iPhone Dev Camp July 6-8, 2007 in San Francisco, this game is actually pretty fun.
To play simply rotate the phone to feed Flip who likes to eat falling leaves and butterflies.
You can play the Tilt Demo here.

Ok, you hardcore gamers, the answer to the question of whether WoW was possible on the iPhone is answered! And the answer is a definitive, “Technically, yes.” Check out this video and see how it is indeed possible, and it is indeed so slow it would drive you nuts.

We were all under the impression that Apple would be developing the majority of the software for the iPhone when it’s released in a couple of months time, but it’s becoming clear now that third party applications, authorised by Apple, will be coming to the iPhone.
The first third party application comes in the form of a widget that was “designed for the size of the iPhone’s screen”, that’s according to the Scenario Poker page on Apple’s website, which you can view here.
Apple has yet to remove this download, or at least edit it, and we assume they’ve already given it the once over because the fruit technology giant authorises each download featured on their website. It’s also worth noting that it looks as though the multitouch screen will come in to play in Scenario Poker, as you can “tap” the screen (we assume) to check your round in the game of poker.

Well, it’s confirmed. Electronic Arts is in talks with Apple to produce games for the iPhone. No word yet on which games or how robust the product offering will be. Hopefully it will be more than just the poker and tetris offerings that are currently available for iPods via iTunes. I want Madden! I want NBA Street!
But even if the iPhones can handle games of this caliber, will you be willing to pay top dollar for games on your iPhone?
