TBWA Creating iPhone Ads?
Stick this one in the rumour mill and we’ll soon know if it comes to light or not, but the launch adverts for the iPhone are to be created by TWBA, according to Advertising Age.
It’s fair to say you might not know who the company is but if you can cast your mind back to the recent “Hello” adverts you’ll soon get an idea of what’s to come. In fact, TWBA have handled advertsment duties for Apple since 1997 and have covered all of the iPod commercials.
I mentioned the other day that with all the buzz and hype running around the media and on the internet regarding the iPhone, Apple wouldn’t need to sort any advertisements out as websites such as iPhone Matters are doing all the work for them, but how they’ve shut me up now.

Don’t get me wrong, the anticipation for the iPhone is still white hot. I mean as hot as a “recalled G4 Powerbook battery” type of hot. But as any good marketer would tell you, just because you are riding the hype wave doesn’t mean you abandon the marketing plan. I am not privy to that information so I don’t know if deviation occurred or not, but I am knowledgeable when it comes to advertising and media planning.
What I can tell you is that even though we all remember the “Hello” ad from Oscar night, Apple missed a huge opportunity when it came to capitalizing on the iPhone hype.
I say this because, despite the countless blogs (like this one) devoted to the iPhone, and despite the constant quotes from Microsoft, Motorola, and Verizon keeping this still, yet to be released product in the media forefront, Apple is still more than one product. And now, Apple is more than just computers (reference the dropping of the word “Computer” from their name).
So why in the world did Apple not use the iPhone hype to leverage their other products. The iPhone hasn’t released yet… more...
Work for Apple and Its iPhone
If you’re an Apple fanboy and an iPhone fanboy all rolled into one, then your dream job has just been posted up on AfterCollege.com.
The position is for a Senior iPhone Support Representative for Apple, Inc. in Austin, Texas and you’ve got until no later than May to get your application handed in. The job description says;
The Sr. iPhone Support Representative is responsible for answering questions for Apple customers and partners. Viewed as an escalation point, the candidate should be able to provide prompt, reliable, and accurate information to customers while maintaining effective communications during conversations by adjusting to the pace and technical level of the customer. The preferred person will be responsible for ensuring first call resolution in a timely manner, while maintaining the highest level of quality support in every customer interaction.
Sounds like a promising career working for Apple, especially as they’ve listed up on their own website more positions related to the iPhone, most notably an iPhone Sales and Services Representative.

more......And Down that Ad Comes!
No sooner had my dear colleague, Greg, reported to you that Apple had placed a huge banner on the Fifth Avenue ‘Cube’ Store in NYC advertising the iPhone, than it had been taking down. Why? We really couldn’t say, or more to the point, we really don’t know.

As reported on Andrants, it could be because of complaints received from members of the public, or more than likely Apple teasing the folks of New York City for a few hours.
Once again, more on this as it arrives.

$400 Million for Apple in Free iPhone Marketing
You’d think gracious blogs like ourselves would knock on Apple’s door for a bit of the cash in return, but it’s places such as Gizmondo, My iPhone and of course, us, that have (and continue to) generate $400 million plus in free advertising for Apple.
According to the source, Harvard Business School professor David Yoffie, “No other company has ever received that kind of attention for a product launch.”
Maybe this is what Steve Jobs had in mind all along when he announced the iPhone 6 months prior to launch, all the while others were slating his tactics and saying it’s a negative for Apple and their luxurious iPhone.

Here is a link to the music used in the iPhone Oscar ad. The song is called, “Inside Your Head” by an artist named Eberg. On his site, he is getting mad props by people who have learned about his music through the commercial. The most amusing is a posting on the site messageboards where a user named, Arturo offers this nugget: “I used your free sound clip as background music homevideo of my dog Marley the sheepdog, fantastic!!! thank you. Wish you the best on your music journey. Awesome cover art!”
There you have it…whether you are into the iPhone or sheepdogs, Eberg is for you.

iPhone Commercial Airs During Academy Awards
As originally posted on Macworld, last night, during the Academy Awards (The Oscars), Apple aired a special teaser commercial for the iPhone. The 30 second commercial aired during the first 30 minutes of the broadcast and featured various clips from movies of people answering the phone asking, “Hello?”. The spot ends with the word “Hello.” and the glamour shot of the iPhone.
Simple. Elegant. Appropriate. Impactful.
