MotionX GPS App Hits Stores, Great Buy
![]()
MotionX GPS Drive is a GPS navigation app for iPhone from the people who brought you MotionX GPS.The most appealing thing about the MotionX GPS Drive is pricing. It is either $3/month, or $25/year. If you want live voice directions MotionX comes with a full free 30 day Live Voice Guidance package. The race to be the best bang for your buck is looking better and better every day.
The user interface is one of MotionX’s main strengths. Functions are laid out in pages, with arrow buttons to slide through the rotation. A very Apple-like function: Hold down an arrow button and a list appears allowing you to jump directly to a page. There are separate pages for maps, compass view, waypoint and track lists, a stopwatch, and GPS status. It is great. They also manage to squeeze social networking in the app. You can share waypoints, tracks, and photos via Twitter, Email, or Facebook. The application can access your iPhone contacts and your music from the iPod app.
Gizmodo gave this app a very strong review and I would like to stress that I agree with them… more...
Cute Bears Battle it Out: Battle Bears for iPhone Reviewed
![]()
Growing up, I cherished my little bears and the TV show, “Teddy Bears” just won me over with their cute and innocent behavior. The game I got my hands on changed my perception of these cute bears for the rest of my life.
The description says it’s a shooter that pits you against a horde of mercilessly affectionate bears (the Huggables) that want nothing more than to hug you…to death. You play as some sort of special forces bear with an assault rifle who rides unicorns and steals pots of gold.
You start off behind enemy lines with only your gun and what looks like a Unicorn horn crossbow to defend yourself against the swarms of Huggables. The enemies make a beeline to hug you, and their rainbow souls beam up when you kill them with a headshot. Regardless of how you kill them, they’ll spill colorful blood that can be any colour of the rainbow.
The controls are cool. You pan the screen using one finger, but you shoot by tapping with another one. You can switch weapons and reload using the icon in the top-left corner of the screen.… more...
A Look at GrooveMaker Club

Last week, I announced the release of GrooveMaker for the iPhone and it seems to be going well in the App Store.
The application is a great music-making tool and you know it is big when Fox gets its hands on it to create music cues for upcoming TV shows this fall.
Just to recap, you can create professional full-length tracks and grooves for your music compositions, ambient soundtracks, movie scores and even dance parties or workouts. Wherever you need to groove.
Everything in GrooveMaker is done in real-time, without ever having to stop the music. You can add, remove, and replace single or multiple loops as you listen. Remixing is a breeze and a totally new experience. Full track sequencing is as easy as drag and drop, and puts you in control of the groove. It is fun and easy to use and I recommend it to anyone.
I manage to get my hands on the club edition. If you are a fan of Techno, Trance, or House, then this is the GrooveMaker edition for you! If you have used the free edition of GrooveMaker, you won’t… more...
MyGeoDiary iPhone App Launches with Goodies
![]()
How do you know when an application is hip? When it has Twitter and Facebook built into it!
Abaq.us announced the availability of MyGeoDiary for the iPhone and Facebook Connect integration into its website and iPhone app.
Geared towards the outdoor lifestyle crowd, MyGeoDiary enables users to upload GPS tracks recorded during outdoor activities such as running, biking and hiking to a web-based user profile. It is really engaging and I like the feedback.
Tracks, waypoints and pictures can be shared with the MyGeoDiary community, embedded in blog posts, and distributed to users’ Facebook and Twitter profiles which is a cool way to share your results. Not to mention, there is Flickr integration as well!
With Facebook Connect integration, MyGeoDiary users will be able to sign in to the service with their Facebook credentials and have their MyGeoDiary content integrated into their Facebook activity streams.
You’ll find MyGeoDiary for the iPhone in the Travel section of the App Store in the “Health and Fitness.” If you were lucky enough to snag it while it was free, then I hope you are enjoying it. For those that weren’t so lucky, you get to… more...
Review of Speck’s New CandyShell iPhone Case

When I opened the package for my new CandyShell iPhone case its crisp and smooth, white and orange cardstock carton felt like a thing of beauty—the wrapper of a classy packet of chocolates.
Inside, the product looked pretty sweet too. With its slick product colors and glossy appearance, the name of the case seems right on. I couldn’t wait to enfold my iPhone in its new JamJar Purple case. Pushing the phone into the case was easy and fun. I enjoyed the click as the case coated my iPhone turning it into a rectangular M&M.
The inside of the case is soft rubberized plastic that feels like a razor thin coating of circus peanuts without the sticky sweet residue. The exterior of the case is as strong as candy too, which is to say, I can scratch it with my fingernails. It’s been on my phone for just one weekend, and there is already a noticeable scratch just above the Speck logo on the back. Granted, I live a rough and tumble lifestyle and so does my iPhone, but the company’s claim on their website:

Get Your Groove-on with GrooveMaker for iPhone/iPod Touch
![]()
Have you been craving a way to make music on your iPhone/iPod Touch? I sure have, and I think I have the perfect application for you to use!
GrooveMaker is a revolutionary application that allows you to create electronic, hip-hop, and dance tracks in real time like a professional DJ. I was able to put my own DJ skills to work with this fun app and never realized how exciting it could be to create tracks on a device smaller than the 24 inch screen I have at home.
The look of the application can be a little intimidating, however, I can assure you it is much easier than it looks. I’ve used Sony’s Acid software and of course, Apple’s GarageBand and it is a completely new experience on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
What I like about this application is the fact that the pre-installed loops can be automatically remixed on the 8 available tracks in ways that are unique each time. You can literally make an endless amount of mixes that give you more variety. The application allows you to make professional full-length tracks as well. Want to make some… more...
You’ve Got YouMail!

How many of you love visual voicemail? What about visual voicemail that you have more control over?
YouMail’s free iPhone app is what you might be looking for. YouMail is a subscription- based service that starts at $3.99 a month. The app ties into YouMail’s Web-based service, which allows users to manage their voicemail from a browser. The service in general is pretty cool, allowing you to forward your voicemail to anyone, choose from a variety of status greetings, and transcriptions. YouMail will transcribe your voicemails for you so not only can you hear them, but see them as well; On the computer and the iPhone app.
Voicemail can be saved, recovered and organized within the iPhone application. The iPhone app connects with the desktop version of the application, allowing users to sync messages and block unwanted callers. The iPhone app also allows you to change greetings as well. While using the cool transcription feature, I ran into a few voicemails that were totally off, but by using context clues, I could generally make out the voicemail. Other voicemails were dead-on. I guess it… more...
Air Sharing Pro Rocks!
![]()
The iPhone app, Air Sharing, has come a long way. The app was one of my first transfer apps and I have stuck by it’s side ever since. If you have not tried Air Sharing Pro, I highly recommend it. Why? Allow me to tell you.
Avatron has recently released Version 2 of Air Sharing, now renamed Air Sharing Pro, with several new additions that make it once again, a competitive file transfer app in the app store.
A new feature in the pro version includes the ability to set up Air Sharing Pro to access remote volumes: MobileMe iDisk, FilesAnywhere, MyDisk.se and WebDAV servers. You can open, copy, move, paste and rename on remote volumes. And for those that aren’t sure what WebDAV is; WebDAV enables you to wirelessly access your files using a browser.
A wireless network isn’t necessary, however, Air Sharing Pro focuses on that by proving features like the ability auto-detect two or more users on the same Wi-Fi network. You can view your files, in all the formats the iPhone and iPod touch supports: .pdf, .xls, .doc, jpgs… more...
The Sonos Controller iPhone App Reviewed

Sonos Controller iPhone App
Rating:
MMMMM - Matters!
I had the wonderful opportunity to try out a wonderful digital music system. The Sonos System has intrigued me for so many years and for the past month, I have been able see why it has gotten such wonderful reviews.
One part of the Sonos System that I was able to try out was the useful iPhone controller or remote app now available in the App Store.
Setup is super simple. Just download the app, and when you launch it for the first time, it will request that you push two buttons on any one of your Sonos devices. Within a second it is connected and ready to roll in about a minute.
Sonos has incorporated the quick jump feature that Apple has in their Contact/iPod application, where you can click on a letter and jump directly there. In addition, Sonos has a nice additional touch in that as you scroll down the alphabet, they present a large icon in the middle of the screen to tell you exactly which letter your finger is resting on. Very nice.

Jovan Washington: One Week With TNA Wrestling
TNA Wrestling
Rating:
MMMM
I have been messing with this app for about two weeks now actually and it has been a joy. I wish more fighting games would come to the iPhone, however, here is one that I’ll think you’ll enjoy as well.
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling released its TNA Wrestling game for the iPhone and iPod touch and it is exactly as its name implies - total nonstop action.
Developed by Longtail Studios, the game revolves around a story mode, in which players create their own wrestler, with the goal of making it from unsigned rookie to TNA World Champion.
Along the way, players will wrestle against 15 different TNA stars, unlocking new moves, creating rivalries, making decisions outside of the ring that will effect future matches, and participating in various match types including tag team, gauntlet, iron man, and lumberjack events.
It is all so exciting and I recommend you try it out. The graphics are impressive and the sound is spot on. To get your hands on this game, you will have to muster up $5, but well worth it.

$4.99
