3 Mac Specific Features That Would Make The iPhone Rock

Although Apple is gaining market share at an unprecedented rate, it still pales in comparison to the ever dominant PC and other platforms such as the iPhone and iPod have to be leveraged in order to generate success. Utilizing those platforms, here are 3 Mac specific things that tie in the iPhone and would surely rock.

.Mac Made Free And iPhone Integration

.Mac is one of Apple’s odd products, it fits in very little places due to its limited adoption and high price for a web based product. However the iPhone is a very web oriented device and with .Mac integration plus full control it would be a very good combination. Mail accounts alongside iCal and Safari Bookmarks could be synced wirelessly and seamlessly. As the iPhone storage increases the inclusion of an iDisk for storage and syncing of files would further fuel the iPhone as a true smart phone.

Coverflow Finder

Just as much as the iPhone is a web oriented device, it can be a local oriented device as well. Sadly this hasn’t come to be for a number reasons, the biggest being the lack of external file storage which oddly enough the iPod Touch has. Of course this would mean easier 3rd party installations but a full blown Coverflow finder built into iTunes and the iPhone wouldn’t make sense for Apple to integrate right away, what Apps right now would make use of it besides say, Notes?

Call From Your Mac

Apple likes to bundle useful Apps with their Macs, one of them being iChat. While iChat can handle video, audio and text, there is no reason the iPhone should be left out of the party. If a sort of VOIP add on were built into iChat where I could add a number of an iPhone user and call that person for free through Wi-Fi, it might bring VOIP to the platform faster and soothe AT&T’s pains.

  1. Why in the world would VOIP be the slightest bit desirable to AT&T?

  2. iChat on the iPhone would really make sense.  If the camera faced forward.

It would make me go out an buy one and have it shipped to malaysia just as a wifi device.  better yet wish iChat connected with Skype rather than AIM and the last link to telephones was there.
