At iPhone Matters we love lists about apps. That shouldn’t really be a surprise with over 10,000 apps in the App Store we’re always looking for a quick way to learn about more apps and lists serve that need. What is better than just any list?  Alist with a few clever jokes thrown in.

Mike Smith has just such a list up over at Yahoo! where he not only lists five “weird” apps but throws in a few jokes about them. The best jokes surround the sad trombone of Rimshot and Crickets. Mike comes up with some great uses for the sad trombone sound and we’re aren’t going to steal his jokes but House (Hadley Stern’s favorite show) would be a lot better in the titular character whipped out the iPhone and played the sad trombone sound whenever he told someone they were going to die.

the rest of the list is pretty good as well. You’ll find some standard picks in there but some you probably haven’t heard of before (bonus points for Mike: not a single fart app in the bunch). There is a surprising amount of phone in useless apps and the list can help you get your recommended daily allowance of app silliness.
