5th Avenue Apple Store Closed: 3G iPhone Commercial?
24 hours. 7 days a week. 365 days a year. That’s how often the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in New York City is open.
The big glass cube on the most expensive street in the world. This flagship store is perhaps the brightest jewel in Apple Retail, often hosting performances from the likes of Maroon 5 & Linkin Park and becoming a new landmark for tourists to visit in the city that never sleeps. It’s open all day, everyday.
However, if you count Thursday, May 29 3:00 p.m. to Friday, May 30 9:00 a.m. there was an exception made. Why?
Apple Store Employees have been telling customers that a commercial is being filmed and reports are floating around saying its a 3G iPhone commercial. Remember, Apple doesn’t close this store for any reason. The only times it has been closed before: the original iPhone launch and the release of Leopard.

Do you know how long it takes to make a commercial? Assuming that the rumor release date of around June 9th is true, I find it hard to believe that they would be filming a commercial now. While the actual filming may not take more than a day, you better believe that editing and post will, especially with Jobs so involved creatively.
They probably are filming a commercial, but my bet is that it is for another product.

Whats the bet that its the New Apple TV theyre shootiing for. That would definitely be a complete let down for all the folk (including myself)who are eagerly awaiting the new 3G iphone beauty!!

i would personally doubt that this is a commercial for a TV.
reports say that both this fifth avenue and an LA apple store have been closed for commercial shooting. it makes sense for the premise of this commercial to be linking (via iphone) the two most influential (arguably) cities in the nation--which just happen to be on opposite sides of the country.
at least it made sense in my head.
