Apple, AT&T, Starbucks…

imageStarbucks will soon be offering 2 hours of free Wi-Fi to any paying customer at one of it’s retail locations. Most who frequent Starbucks with laptop in hand would be able to tell you that they used T-mobile to do their online errands. Starbucks recently announced a partnership with AT&T. Maybe Apple persuaded Starbucks to do so. It looks like these three companies are forming a Trinity of monopolistic power.

Soon iPhone owners all around will be able to use Starbuck’s Wi-Fi to surf the web, and buy drinks and music. A customer who completes these three simple tasks will benefit all three companies, and at the same time this is also very convenient for the customer who uses these services.

My question: Do you think this will benefit the average consumer, or hurt him/her?

Comments

  1. It will hurt the average consumer IF starbucks decides to raise prices due to the free offering of WiFi.

    Otherwise it’s GREAT news!

  2. You have to have a registered starbucks card to get the 2 free hours - starbucks wont be raising their prices due to free wifi.

i think the idea is great.

  3. The Starbucks Card rule exists to keep the security users had while using T-Mobile while offering free service.

It also helps with abuse in highly populated areas.  Like stores in larger cities with thousands of potential security threats daily and people who live around the Starbucks who could be lowering bandwidth and abusing the internet connection if it was freely open.

I think it’s the best plan!
