Apple, Steal this Idea: The iPhone Glove
It’s bone chilling cold here in the Boston area these days. As I stand at the train station waiting for my always-late commuter train, I constantly feel the urge to check my email on my iPhone. The problem is, due to the touch screen, I cannot operate it without taking my gloves off. And anyone that knows anything about being cold knows that the appendages are the most important things to keep warm.
A couple of weeks ago, the SCTI Development Blog found a pair of sailing gloves that have the thumb and index finger tips cut off. Perfect for the iPhone users like me at the cold train station.
Those might work, but I want something better. Preferably from Apple. So your product designers near and far, listen up. Forget stupid ideas like the iPod Sock, I want something I can really use: The iPhone Glove.
I want a pair of warm gloves that have flip open fingertips and built-in Bluetooth iPod controls in the palm. I bet you would sell a ton of these starting with me.
Who else would buy a pair of these babies?

Already exists. Marmot makes a line of gloves called the iGlove. It’s made for the iPod, but has two fingers that can be used to “touch” the screen with. I was just wearing mine this morning and works wonderfully with the iPhone.

Sorry Greg, you’re on your own with this one. In Texas we only get about a month or two of winter. And thats 32 degree weather which usually doesn’t warrant the need for gloves. An interesting idea for skiers and snowboarders though.

OR: How about a small ultrasonic heater device built into the iPhone so on command you could hold it and it would warm up your hands one at a time.
This could come in handy. Maybe a small device attached to the dock port like the fake GPS unit could make it happen.
No gloves at all then!

How about gloves with conductive fibers in the material at the tip of the index fingers?

thin leather driving gloves work just fine with the iphone and cut the bite of NYC cold.

I dont know how many of you people out there are having problems using your iPhone in freezing cold conditions. I dont know whether you people know about this or not, fruit skins work as good as your finger for using the iPhone’s touch screen.
I kind of discovered this during breakfast when I accidentally dropped an orange on my iPhone. I saw that the touch screen responded when the orange fell on it.
So, any one out there who feels it inconvenient to take off your gloves each time you need to operate the phone, take your glove, take a tiny bit of any fruit skin( cabbage leaf also works great). Stick whatever you have chosen on the finger tip of the glove,... and Voila! You have an iPhone compatible glove!!

Another thing that works really well is to use a baby carrot like a stylus
