Apple Store or AT&T Store? The Pros and Cons
So you have made up your mind and gosh darn it, you are going to go and get an iPhone on Friday. Now comes the big decision. Will you wait in line at the Apple Store or the AT&T Store? Here are a few pros and cons for each:
The Apple Store
PROS:
- Locations tend to be in malls where you can take turns with someone in line to grab a bite, stretch your legs, and take a leak all while indoors.
- The Apple Store is a place where you can show your true fanboy status without being made fun of.
- You can definitely pick up Made for iPhone accessories with your iPhone.
- The clean, minimalist interior design of the Apple Store will keep you relaxed as you wait for hours and hours.
- Apple stores are more likely to have experience with huge crowds.
CONS:
- Most people will line up at the Apple Store making your chances of scoring one much less.
- It is still not determined whether Apple will be able to set up your voice and data plan in store or whether you will have to take the iPhone to an At&T store to set it up.
AT&T Store
PROS:
- The employees at the AT&T store are used to activating phone plans
- These locations will probably have less crowds
CONS:
- These locations tend to be on the street or in strip malls making dealing with the outside elements a huge factor
- AT&T is not as use to big crowds
There is a third option to purchase the iPhone on friday. That option is Apple.com
PROS:
- You don’t have to have endurance by standing in line but you do need speed and a great internet connection to order before it sells out.
CONS:
- You are competing with an undetermined number of people nationwide competing against you.
- You will have to wait until the darn thing ships out to you before you can enjoy it.
So which of the 3 options will you do on Friday? Fill out our poll below.

According to the recently-released rate plan details, activation will take place on iTunes, meaning that the stores’ experience with activation or lack thereof is irrelevant because each user will activate their own phone.

Yeah, good point Jason. This post got published before the press release came out.
Looks like Apple thought of everything….again.
