AT&T Announces iPhone Plans
It’s been speculated for a while and we’ve all heard that it will cost us a couple thousand for 2 years just to have an iPhone on AT&T’s network but in traditional Apple style 3 new, simple plans have been announced for the iPhone.
With the exception of the last plan which costs 100 dollars it won’t be a couple thousand dollars for the duration of your contract to use an iPhone but excuse me if this hasn’t been applied to other smartphones as well, just seems kind of ironic that the iPhone has been knocked for having an expensive plan when other phones can run more per month. Anywho the first plan offers 450 minutes, 5,000 Night & Weekend Minutes plus Unlimited Data, Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS Text Messages, Rollover Minutes and Unlimited Mobile To Mobile for $59.99. The only thing that differentiates the others two plans is the price ($79.99 and $99.99) and the amount of minutes (900 for the $79.99 plan and 1350 for the $99.99 plan) but both have unlimited Night and Weekend minutes.
What seems odd though is the inclusion of Visual Voicemail with the 3 plans, is AT&T keeping making this feature pay only and can you upgrade or will it be available solely for these 3 plans?

Update: A Digg Story reveals which options you can upgrade to if you’re an existing customer, the most notable being $20 a month for unlimited data and 200 SMS messages.

accually there are 3 more possible plans 119.99 169.99 and 219.99 the last gives you 6000 minutes.

What’s up with a family plan only including 1 line for $80? That’s weak!
-
Yeah but with a family plan and two or three phones, which I have, do I have to pay $20 per line for data? OR $20 x 3 lines for data on the iPhone.
I hope it’s a shred data plan just like minutes?

My question is, will a data plan be “required”. I already have service and don’t want to pay extra data plan fees.

Data is required

how do you upgrade your SMS capacity once you have your iPhone on a particular plan? The AT&T page is pretty darn confusing and the data options don’t seem to be specific to the iPhone. There’s no IPHONE DATA + 400 (or similar)
