Call To Readers: Tell Us Of Your Foreign iPhone Killers
The state of cell phones and handheld devices varies from country to country for either good or for worse. Realizing that even though the iPhone is put on a pedestal here in the US, the sales numbers haven’t told us the same thing in Europe.
We’re asking our non US readers to send in the names and a bit of info of the most popular phones in their region that compete directly with the iPhone in media capabilities and the user interface.
We’ll profile these in a separate post. Sound off in the comments.

Italy is the second country in the world for cell phone numbers related to population and probably the first where cell phones outnumber landphones.
I believe iphone will hardly be a success over here as 90% of phones are based on prepaid contracts and italians mainly dont trust operators and dont do contracts.
Also people over here dont really care about how a phone is going to be used but rather on wich feature it has.
For example, people dont care if model x has a 2 megapixel camera that performs better than vendor y’s 5 megapixels… they will go for the 5.
People over here also that buy smartphones want HSPDA and GPS.
But nevertheless apple made the ipod so it has a good headstart.
In general though, the phone that everyone craves over here is the Nokia N95 and generally all the N Series.
Motorola are not loved due to the horrible OS
