Can’t get a Blackberry Bold in the US? Blame the iPhone
If you’re reading this you’re probably not after a Blackberry Bold but maybe you have a friend or relative with a bad jones for the Blackberry. You need to spend a few moments consoling and explaining that the reason they can’t have a Blackberry Bold in the US is because your iPhone is eating up all the bandwidth available.
The problem arises because both devices rely on the 3G network and AT&T can barely handle the amount of volume generated by the iPhone so adding the Bold won’t be possible until AT&T can manage the data used by the iPhone. It turns out that one iPhone uses as much data as twenty blackberrys not because iPhone users are surfing or texting more but because Apple uses a scheme where the iPhone is constantly accessing the AT&T network whereas RIM routes things through the companies servers, saving AT&T from managing the network.
Those are the boring techie reasons but who cares about accuracy? Those wannabe Bold owners just want a shoulder to cry on, so be a good person and help them out.

“AT&T can barely handle the amount of volume generated by the iPhone” They could not handle the iPhone period. Here is Chicago the iPhone has flopped. The firm I work for (med size) has just sent a strong suggestion to not get the iPhone and about 50% of those that had an iPhone have returned them- the other 50% are waiting for the Bold so they can actually type an e-mail without 20 errors in it. IPHONE=Crap.

The iPhone is amazing, nobody cares about RIM’s devices anymore, they are outdated. I don’t know who you work for Mike, but here at Oracle (large size) we are all getting iPhones and ditching the blackberries.

I’m going to make up a fictitious story about a fictitious company where many fictitious people work. And let you know - We all hate the iPhone because is sucks. Everyone is returning theirs so they can buy the new radio shack blackblurry. I just wanted to pass that bit along because I personally hate the iPhone. So I have enlisted thousands of fictitious employees at my fictitious place of employment that all agree with me. And that is the truth.
Secretly, I think the iPhone is incredible but I can’t let anyone know that because of my anti-Apple campaign. Damn…. I wish I’d never started it - but I can’t quit now! I have my pride to think of. Long live Blurberry thingy. Damn.

You have to be idiots. Everyday, in every paper there is an article slamming the iPhone and companies like HSBS, UBS, ect have rejected it, for continue black berry. Maybe when you guys get real jobs and need to use it for more than a porn and pop e-mails accounts you will learn. I have used the iPhone and my previous treo is better than it, plus I never get any dropped called. Face it, you IPhone do not matter.
Iphone = Trixie. -
Are there really so many those who want a Blackberry? I doubt that. Instead of giving them a shoulder to cry on, better try to gently persuade them to give up the idea of getting a blackberry. Or just give them your iPhone for a while, let them try it out, they’ll definitely love it.
They can also try to win a free iPhone 3g on Pikaba, give them this link: http://www.pikaba.com/c/ContestRules.aspx?m

If the iPhone eating up the network is true, this is awful. Someone screwed up letting the iPhone stranglehold the network, or at&t needs to upgrade their systems. Regardless, some action needs to be taken. the iPhone is fine for the more creative professions and communication majors. However, in the business world, the iPhone works, but is a compromise to the business functionality and enterprise server of the blackberry. I can only speak to wall street, but 99% of bankers dont use iPhones, only hippies with no jobs do.
