After a recent rumor propagated through the Apple Blog-o-sphere about China Unicom ordering 5 million iPhones it was speculated that a deal was struck between the Chinese carrier and Apple but it turns out it was false.

China Unicom came out and strongly denied the rumor that Apple and the carrier had reached any sort of agreement.

“Talks between us and Apple have been going on for some time, but no agreement has been reached yet,” said Unicom spokesman Yi Difei. “There are all kinds of possibilities. There is no particular timetable for the talks.”
