Cool things you can do with an iPhone, #176
The iPhone has such a broad range of uses there’s so many ways to impress people, especially when you show off some of its cool third-party apps.
Add to that list, aSmart HUD.

aSmart HUB Is a speedo for your car and comes in two variants, one with speedcamera notifications, and one without.
Ok, so your car’s already got a speedo. That’s okay, because a Smart HUD adds a seriously cool feature: heads up display (that’s what the HUD stands for).
What it means is you set this up, pop it on your dashboard in HUD mode, and the speed is reflected on your windscreen.
It also operates in a normal display for daytime driving (since it won’t reflect in the daytime).
Although the above image might make you think it is distracting, it’s not the case. And you can adjust the brightness of the screen anyway, not to mention the placement.
It’s probably something you won’t make a habit of using, but is still really cool. Although if your car stupidly places the speedo in athe centre of the dashboard, way out of you line of site (as my Toyota does), aSmart HUD is quite appealing.
The one concern would be in an accident you don’t want to get sconed by your iPhone, so if you do plan to use it regularly, you might want to investigate a mount like shown in that picture.
My experience with it so far has been promising. It’s not entirely accurate as updates are only every 5 seconds, and it depends on good satellite signals. You can change the update frequency. I did try every second but that made it worse - I suspect it overloaded it.
At only 99c it’s well worth grabbing, if only to impress folks who don’t have an iPhone.
