Copy and Paste finally comes to the iPhone (sort of)

Copy & paste has been on every iPhone user’s “most wanted” list since they were first forced to write down a link with pen and paper and re-type it in another entry box. What’s even more disappointing is that Apple hasn’t mentioned anything about introducing this feature in any past firmware updates, and nothing seems to be planned for version 2.0 either. Fortunately, a new bookmarklet hack lets you copy and paste URL’s in Safari. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing. Plus, this “hack” doesn’t require you to jailbreak your iPhone, so if you’re one of the few people out there without a jailbroken ‘phone, you can proceed without fear. The following directions are from iPhoneHacks.com

  1. Click on the link in first step in the link above, from your iPhone
  2. Click the plus (+) to add a bookmark.
  3. Click “Save”.
  4. Click the bookmarks icon to open Bookmarks.
  5. Click “Edit” near the bottom of screen.
  6. Click on the Copy/Paste bookmark.
  7. Tap on the URL portion of the page.
  8. The cursor will be at the end of the URL. Scroll to the beginning of the URL.
  9. Delete everything before the word “javascript”

  10. Press Return.
  11. Click “Bookmarks” near the top to return to your bookmarks.
  12. Cick “Done” to exit edit mode.
  13. Click “Done” to exit bookmarks.
