DirecTV has released an iPhone App (iTunes Link) that allows customers a plethora of extra features if they subscribe to the service.

In addition to scheduling DVR recordings, the App, which works over Wi-Fi, EDGE and 3G lets you browse television programs 2 weeks in advance as well as start your recording 2 minutes before a show starts. While the App is much more robust than its web interface counterpart, TUAW notes that only the “DIRECTV Plus® DVR (models R15, R16, R22), DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR (models HR20, HR21, HR23) or TiVo® Series 2 receivers with 6.4a software” are currently supported.
