John Carmack, technical director and cofounded of Id software, recently disclosed at QuakeCon 2008 that his company is currently developing two very interesting iPhone games. You’ll immediately recognize the first- Doom 2- but Carmack stated it would be more of an extension of Id’s mobile (read- cell phone graphics) games. However, the second game, Wolfenstein, will be more of a “graphical tour de force.”

Carmack made sure to note that these iPhone games aren’t exactly going to be showing up next week- “We’re probably going to be making some moves to do some iPhone development. We have two different projects that are at least vaguely in the works for the iPhone.”

Doom has been seen on pretty much every device, and we’re excited to see how Id ports such a classic game onto such a revolutionary platform.
