First impressions
I got the 16gb white iPhone.
The staff at AT&T were totally buttoned up and prepared. The first thing I noticed was the feel of the new form factor. For those who are used to holding the older iPhone you will notice the curved edges and plastic back actually feels more like the iPod touch.
The 3g connection I’d noticeably faster. I’m looking forward to
testing out downloading apps straight from the iPhone. For now I am going to work.
Tonight I will write a more I’m depth write up.
Thanks to everyone who has followed me over the last few hours. Like last year it was a very fun and rewarding experience despite how tired I feel.
This will be the last time you see"Sent from my non-3G iPhone”

Generally, you’ll be happy with your iPhone 3G. You’ll hate the battery life and lack of copy/paste. You’ll marginally tolerate the 2.0 megapixel camera and true GPS. You’ll love the App store and games. Hopefully, you’ll get a decent comm signal in your area so your connection doesn’t drop.
All this has been hashed over and over. Nothing will change. Apple could fix all these things in an instant but won’t until the next version iPhone is released. Sad, but true.
The iPhone is still overall the best smartphone on the market, but so what. It was supposed to be THE perfect smartphone. Not quite good enough for users and Wall Street.

@ Constable Odo:
There is no such thing as the “perfect” phone. Everyone’s requirements are unique. And bashers will always find something to complain about.
Apple never claimed that the iPhone was a total replacement for a notebook computer, high-definition movie camera, GPS navigation system, and every other damn thing on people’s wish lists. If Apple were to include every supposedly missing feature, the iPhone would be bulky, more expensive, and difficult to operate.
You said it yourself: “Apple is still overall the best smart phone on the market”. And they do it without throwing in the kitchen sink.
Now I don’t know whether the 3G iPhone is “good enough for Wall Street” (whatever that is supposed to mean), but I have no doubt that large numbers of additional users will be quite satisfied with the improved model. And with the iPhone’s continued adoption, Apple’s stock will undoubtedly increase in value.

Hey Greg,
Enjoyed your blogging all morning while waiting in line for my phone; thanks for the entertainment!
Was first in line in Birmingham. 37 people came to claim 20 phones. Avoided the activation trouble by going to bed until late afternoon when the traffic dies down.
