imageOne of the biggest improvements Firmware 3.0 brought to the iPhone was universal search and while it’s included in select Applications already, here’s a tip to empower your search from the Mail App.

If you have a MobileMe account added to Mail already, just go in to your mailbox and flick until you reach the top of screen. Tap in your query in to the search bar and scroll to the bottom of the list of results. You should see “Continue Search on Server,” at the very bottom which will look through any mail you have stored on Apple’s servers.

  1. I use this for my Gmail account, to search the 20,000 or so messages in All Mail.  So it does work for any IMAP account.
