iJailbreak Opens Up 1.1.3, Mac Compatible

Yesterday David wrote about a great utility recently made available that will automatically Jailbreak your recently upgraded iPhone but the only downside is the Windows only tag. Alongside Zibri’s utility was an equally awesome App, iJailbreak, was updated to accomplish the same thing but brings Mac compatibility.

Although it has been tested for iPhones running fresh out of the box with Firmware 1.1.3 and Bootloader 4.6, I managed to get it working on my iPhone running Bootloader 4.6 and upgraded to 1.1.3. I jumped the gun and ended unlocking my iPhone but it works.

The latest version can be downloaded from the main site http://ijailbreak.com/ and even more impressive is the developer behind the App, 13 year old AriX.

  1. Hey iPhone Matters,

Thanks so much about writing about us! However, I’d just like to say that I (AriX) am the developer of iJailBreak, not Ben (he helps out on the site and stuff)

    Thanks again!

  3. does this method require iTunes 7.4.2. I ran into a problem once I downloaded ziphone on my vista machine and extracted it to the desktop…. For some reason it wouldn’t stay open. It quickly flashed on the screen and went away.  So i downloades ijailbreak but havent tried it because i was trying to figure out how to downgrade itunes thinking that was the problem. Any suggestion

  4. The only requirement I ran into for iJailbreak was to have an iPhone for Jailbreaking. iTunes 7.6 worked fine

  5. version 0.5.3 of iJailbreak works without any problems for me on 7.6 on a mac.
finally.  My only recommendations if you are currently are on iphone 1.1.3 with a bunch of webapps and contacts, bookmarks etc., is to first sync your iphone before running ijailbreak.  you may have to sync twice, if you see backing up…in itunes, then you are backed up. check by going to itunes preferences, syncing and see the latest date of backing up your iphone.  backing up is a way to get your data back on the iphone if jailbreak goes wrong (via ziphone on mac-i had to restore after ziphone).  I just restored and chose my latest backup in 7.6.  installed iJailbreak 0.5.3.  worked flawlessly.  all my stuff was there and the coveted installer app. not all apps will work.  but got some i used on 1.1.1 and navizon(reason i used ijailbreak)  is so much better now that the maps update in 1.1.3.  almost like having a real GPS.  for $25 not $200.
before ijailbreaking:  I did get a get a connect to itunes slide for emergency screen after my restore and update in itunes 7.6.  once i slid for emergency to get keypad, itunes recognized and restore process continued, ie. choose back up.  I also got pairing error, but all i did was remove from dock and put back in.
oh yeah, you need leopard for ijailbreak to work.
    Thanks goes out to AriX.
