iPhone BarCamp

The first iPhoneDevCamp has come and gone and it looks like it was very interesting indeed. Hundreds of designers, geeks, web developers came armed with iPhones and their imaginations to develop some applications. The hack-a-thon got going on Saturday at 9:00 am and went through until Sunday at 2. At the end of the day each team had a chance to show off their work.
You can find a full list of the applications here.
Here are some that I found interesting:
iPheed is a Notebook, a To-do list and integrates with Technorati tags. The design could use some spiffing up, but it has some cool functionatlity
iBrick is “in progress” but worked ok for me. Its ye old classic Tetris for the iPhone. Who said you need Flash for games!
gOffice is a very ambitious application that is basically word on your iPhone. You “save” your documents by emailing them to yourself. Oddly enough, there is also an option to have the file (or is it a printout?!) snail-mailed to you for 3 bucks.
Perhaps the most exciting though is iPhone Remote that lets you stream music from your home computer to your iPhone. Zounds! I’m trying that one out tonight.
I still wish Apple would let us add icons for these Apps instead of having to bookmark in Safari. Until then it is fun and interesting to see what the development community it up to.
Hundreds of web developers, designers, and ordinary geeks gathered this weekend to build usable applications for the iPhone. The barcamp.org event was hosted at Adobe Town Hall and featured dozens of sponsors. The hack-a-thon began on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and culminated Sunday at 2:00 p.m., when each team had a chance to present their app.
