Hi Friends,
Does your iPhone have problems? Does it suffer from the embarassing ailments of:
Dropped calls?
Low battery life?
slow sync times?
Frequent hangs?
That urge to go at the worst times?
Good news friends, the iPhone software 2. update can fix all that. Except for the “frequent urge to go” part. But wait, there’s more!
You get an option to wipe your data after ten failed passcode attempts
a more accurate signal strength display

Now how much would you pay? Well, for the foreseeable future this gotta have update is free, free, free! For iPhone owners anyway. The reaction to the update? Let others go first so you don’t have to:

Seth Weintraub

Fantastic is all I can say about the final result. Finally, I can sync my iPhone like I did in version 1. I added a full album and it only took about 2 minutes to update the iPhone. These stupid 100mb games I bought also don’t crash the iPhone when I try to install them. And they install quickly!

Others haven’t haven’t had such an easy time with the update:

Josh Taylor

Still no love. Tried twice more, then gave up and rebooted my system and tried again. At first, it seemed promising, but after backing up my phone, it crashed again (this time with a different error code — 30).

Then I tried again, and this time it’s at least doing something different. Whereas the first two back-ups took about a minute apiece, this time around it’s been backing up for about 20 minutes, and it’s roughtly 60-percent complete. Stay tuned…

The overall reaction seems to be extremely positive, so update that iPhone!

  1. before every update, i’m like a kid the night before christmas… this morning it seems so far i did not get a lump of coal… as with all my previous updates, it went flawlessly… the update itself was very quick with no problems. my phone seems a way lot snappier all around… still need more time to play with other features etc..

  2. So far I have no problems except this… my phone didn’t have much issue with dropped calls before, but two calls made within an hour or so of updating my phone have dropped on me.  Hopefully it’s merely coincidence!

  3. The lag I experienced when entering names into the search function of the Phone app’s contact search is GONE.  This was an annoyance—a little delay—that has been fixed.

  4. Make that three dropped calls since updating…

  5. Sorry about your woes Nicole, hopefully it is just a coincidence. My iphone is much better after the update.

  6. Since updating, my phone is no longer making the little click or lock sounds when I lock or unlock it. Otherwise it seems to be working faster in the few places where it was slow before.

  7. Nevermind that. The problem was I’m an idiot. I turned my phone on silent without noticing. Since I never turn silent mode on, I didn’t realize what was going on. Anyway, no problems now.

  8. No discernible improvement in iPhone quality or signal strength for telephone calls. Backup speeds on sync improved dramatically. Installation of new app (Notebook 1.0 by Appigo, by the way—a FABULOUS program) went much quicker too. Just wish I had an ATT tower closer to home!

  9. I, like a lot of people rushed into the upgrade to 2.1 even though I was not experiencing the problems others have spoken about. Alas a new version - it must be better in some way, right! - NO!!! I now have the problems that others were having - slow response to commands, call drops - you name it I have it. Although at first things were much quicker. Now I going back to 2.0.2 which was working well.

  10. Jeff.  You say you’re ‘going back to 2.0.2’.  How do you downgrade the firmware?  I’d like to, because since I’ve updated to 2.1, suddenly I can barely get a signal, either for phone or data.  I’ve got an AT&T phone from work and that’s signal’s great, so I know it’s not the network.  All this happened after updating to 2.1.  I’d love to get it back to 2.0.2, but HOW?!?!?
