iPhone survey reveals 1/3 of iPhone users carry a second phone
Rubicon Consulting has conducted yet another survey of 460 iPhone users throughout the US, and here is a summary of their findings.
-iPhone users are, as a whole, ‘very satisfied’
-Top functions are e-mail and mobile browsing- Around 75% of iPhone users say it has encouraged them to do more browsing on the go
-The iPhone is pushing the smartphone market forward- 50% of iPhones replaced normal phones, 40% replaced smartphones, and 10% were first-time cellphone purchases.
-A third of iPhone users carry a second phone- Seems that some iPhone users carry their iPhones for media and email functions, and a second phone for more basic phone calls. Maybe they don’t even know the iPhon has a phone function…
-Half of iPhone users are under age 30, and 15% are students.

Is the reason 1/3 of iPhone users carry an additional phone because their contracts are not complete on their Verizon/Sprint/Alltel accounts?

... aside from the reason that you could SMS, dial, and email faster on non-touchscreen, button-style interfaces…
My friends always tell me about the typing hell that is the iPhone.

I’ve had no problem with the iPhone keyboard and find that I type just as fast as I did with my Blackberry. Maybe some older folks have trouble adjusting to it. I also owned a second phone until my contract with Sprint expired and I just recently recycled it.
I see more phones moving toward an on screen keyboards in the near future.

Jofell,
I love the iPhone keyboard and type nearly as fast on my iPhone as I do on my computer. You have to practice for a week or so, then it is a complete pleasure to use.
I never had a desire to purchase a smartphone before. Not only are they cumbersome and ugly, in my opinion, I never liked the buttons.

I’ve pondered this for reasons that will become moot once proper Exchange functionality is on the iPhone. Not having my calendar fully sync’ed with Exchange has caused me a lot of meeting confusion. Syncing via iTunes/Outlook just doesn’t quite cut it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love love my iPhone and it’s the first phone I really bought, not to mention I mastered the typing hell of the iPhone’s keyboard interface. It’s just frustrating that while I’m riding a cab or riding public transpo, or riding somebody else’s car, I just can’t type. I also have sweaty hands so every time I get smudge on the screen and aims for a letter, it clicks the wrong thing. My last issue is that since my hands are a bit chubby, my palm’s lower left area tend to keep on telling / clicking the keyboard to switch to the number keyboard or vice versa. The rest is all good, totally satisfied.
