iPhone Tip of the Week ({UPDATE}

I enjoy taking pictures with my iPhone. With geotagging built in and my iLife 09’ software, it is just great to take pictures on my phone, however, you can’t take the clearest pictures with the iPhone. Let me tell you how they can get a little clearer - just a little.

This may seem more like a review more than a tip because I use an application from the app store. Either way, this is a great app to take clearer pictures. The app is called ClearCam. You may have passed by it a few times in the App Store.

What make ClearCam neat is that it takes 4 megapixel images through special processing on your iPhone. This is cool because ClearCam claims to use special processing technology to produce a crisp image equal to 4 megapixels out of the built in 2 megapixel camera.

Using the camera is just like the default iPhone camera app, point and shoot. When you take a picture it actually takes six pictures to produce the highest quality image. From there you can choose to align the images and enhance them. Once done you can save it to your phone’s main picture folder.

Now don’t expect brilliantly clear photos out of this app. In my usage of this app, I noticed subtle differences, but there were differences. Of course, in a more lit surrounding, the application took and enhanced great looking photos.

If you want to enhance your pictures just a little bit more, then this is a great little app. It will help protect against little motion blurs and the fact that it take more than one photo, is great because not only is it going to be enhanced, but the best one will be enhanced.

Unofficially, I give this app: MMM1/2

Enjoy smile

{UPDATE}
Unfortunately, the app I mentioned above has been pulled, so in the meantime, I recommend Camera Genius which has anti-shake stabilization which really helps to take care of those blurry images. It also has a laundry list of cool features, including but not limited to: A timer for group shots, voice or noise activated capture and a indication at the top right to notify you of how many pictures you have taken. This app is currently in the App Store as “Camera Genius.”

Also, there is a magnetic attachment camera that I have tried that take some pretty good picture if you are looking to go that route. Enjoy!

Comments

  1. Is this app still available?  Could it possibly be under a different name?  I searched the App Store and couldn’t find it.

  2. Hello Ryan,

    Unfortunately, the app has apparently been removed for some reason. I have updated the post to include a few more options I have tried. Thanks.
