iPhone to Create “Virtual Upheaval” and Motorola Will Suffer
I think they should change Changewave’s name to The iPhone Survey Company. Changewave is back and this time they have talked to over 3000 people who are planning on buying a new cell phone in the next 6 months.
According to the survey, reported on PC World, 16% of those participating said their phone of choice will be the iPhone. Extrapolate that nationwide and that could mean some serious numbers.
The study also comments that Motorola is the one that will suffer the most by this surge by the iPhone. It’s no surprise as they are #1- they have the most to lose.
While Motorola retains the largest (31 percent) market share, the company has lost two percentage points—while Apple has already picked-up one percent of the mobile market according to ChangeWave.
Another interesting stat accumulated by Changewave shows that 77% of iPhone users claim to be “very satisfied” with their phone. I will look forward to hearing how that number increases or decreases a year from now. I content that the “specialness” of owning an iPhone right now does more for the user’s perceived satisfaction than the actual phone’s features and reliability do.
