iPhone User Looks for a Controversy at the Apple Store
It’s always tough to see a well meaning customer get seemingly “shafted” by the company they trusted. But it is even more sad when you see someone looking for a fight.
This brings us to the latest example of someone looking for a fight with Apple. “Jake B.” is a guy who decides to bring in his broken iPhone to the Apple Store to get replaced. The problem is his iPhone did not have a valid AT&T contract associated to it and thus, was denied help.
Poor Jake B. thought that because his phone was registered, he could take advantage of the iPhone’s one-year limited hardware warranty from Apple. He was wrong as you can see and hear for yourself in this video:
The real issue that I have is Jake B. doesn’t use his real name. And why would anyone who truly believes they are in the right, think to videotape the entire thing? One reason: he was looking for a controversy.
My mind is made up about this one: this guy got what he deserved.

I don’t think this is that bad.. I look for fights all the time, this guy seemed polite enough. Everyone well behaved. He didn’t make any threats to go at Customer Service or jump in a class action.
the fact there was no SIM in the phone, wrecked it for him, in my opinion. the Apple store team did a great job working the issues, and following the process.
looks like if he had a card, they would have tried to help him thru.
we all are 90% sure it’s a bricked unlock. but you can’t knock the guy for trying.

Well, DUH!! This guy doesn’t have a phone number (when asked for it). He doesn’t want to give his name (when asked for it). Apple can’t look up his registration to even see if he is registered or not. They ask him where his SIM card is…, he doesn’t have it!! Big DUH!! there…
I mean, who is this guy? Some thief, trying to perfect a way to “launder” iPhones that have been stolen from other people and/or stores, and figure out a new way to get “free and clear” iPhones to sell on the open market. Yeah Apple! Make a way for thieves to steal our iPhones and give them a new iPhone in exchange. A real big DUH!! for all the stupid people out there that thinks Apple should “honor” this guy’s “warranty”... LOL!!

Naw, the REAL issue is that the guy can’t even set the date on his camcorder.
