iPity: Mr. T on your iPhone

You’ve got an idea and it includes Mr. T. With that as a starting point you’re thinking there is no way you can go wrong, right? Wrong. Here’s a tale of two Mr. T concepts, one good and one bad.

The first concept: Mr. T as a cartoon character. So far, so good. You’re imagining Mr. T beating the tar out of various people who deserve it. But this is going to be Saturday morning TV so the concept had to be softened up a bit. Instead of Mr. T just beating the crap out of Klan members and such he’s a gymnastics coach. Well, that might be okay, Mr. T beating the crap out of steroid taking gymnasts and domineering coaches ruining the all important years of kids lives sounds solid. But still to edgy for Saturday morning. So how about Mr. T coaches a gymnastic team that drives around in a bus and solves mysteries. Plus, there’s a dog with a mohawk. Okay, laughably bad. Take a look for yourself:

The second concept: Mr. T as an iPhone app. A tap where you can get Mr. T to dish out one of thirty Mr. Tisms with a touch of your finger. Haven’t used it yet but the concept is simply awe inspiring. The app looks something like this:

Did you spot the difference between the two implementations of the “The world needs more Mr. T” concept? Of course you did. The first tries to add something to Mr T (a kids cartoon? C’mon!) the second just adds Mr. T to your iPhone.

  1. I just added Mr. T to my GPS and will defiantly be adding him to my Ipod.

I got his voice on my GPS from a company called Navtones (I think). They do real celebrity voices for GPS devices. I love Mr. T giving me my directions with his no nonsense attitude. Turn left fool!

The world always needs more Mr. T, and don’t forget that fool!
