Apple announced Ringtone support during their September 5th event yesterday. Ringtones conversion will be available in select iTunes store tracks for an additional $.99. This functionality isn’t expected until next week so that is good. WiFi iTunes store for iPhone is also expected within the next few weeks.

iPhone users could alternatively use shareware utilities such as iToner (Mac) or iPhoneRingToneMaker (PC) or freeware tools such as iFuntastic, however at present it appears ringtones added by 3rd party tools are deleted when you sync with iTunes 7.4. I almost did iFuntastic! grin

  1. I will not be surprise that the good folks at Ambrosia will figure out the way to bypass/workaround this behavior.
In fact I will not be surprise that when the ringtone system will be analyzed/reversed engineer and in the near future iToner may be something of the past, and you will be able to create your own ringtone without paying a dime -at least I wish!
