John Dvorak is iPhone Enemy #1

imageJohn Dvorak doesn’t get it. He never has when it comes to Apple and what Apple does. In reading his column every once in a while, I always viewed this pundit as someone that just likes to march to the beat of his own drummer. But this time he has really gone above and beyond in his dissenting opinion. His column, “Apple Should Pull the Plug on the iPhone” reads like the time you were at that party in high school and everyone was sucking helium and there’s one dude who is afraid his vocal cords will snap.

Dvorak knows enough facts to be dangerous with his words. But his words reveal a highly analytical personality who is afraid to ever take a chance and who will never understand the spirit of an innovator.

In a nutshell, Dvorak says that the phone industry is competitive and that Apple should not jump into the market and ruin their reputation.

What Apple risks here is its reputation as a hot company that can do no wrong. If it’s smart it will call the iPhone a “reference design” and pass it to some suckers to build with someone else’s marketing budget. Then it can wash its hands of any marketplace failures.

Ok. Time to read the full article for yourself.
