Microsoft’s latest target? The iPhone

Seems like Microsoft finally swallowed their pride and realized the iPhone market just might be a profitable one. The software giant announced it was interested in developing applications for the iPhone, especially what boils down to a mobile version of the Microsoft Office software suite. This would have to entail a close relationship with Apple, since regular developers won’t have the ability to, say, open an attached email document. So far, the only option is to view office documents with the mobile version of Google Documents on the iPhone. However, it could take quite some time before Microsoft applications start showing up on the iPhone’s home screen. At that point, we’ll just keep our fingers crossed that the iPhone version of Office can be bought for less than $400.
