Readers, What Are Your Thoughts On Apple’s SDK?

Thursday’s big announcement made waves in the iPhone development community and have already got you anticipating June like there’s no tomorrow. While we’ve been enthusiastic about Apple finally introducing a SDK, we’d like to hear your word on it.

Daniel: multitasking (in the OS sense) is technically quite possible.  There’s nothing to stop your application running in the background (other than the guidelines and possibly the AppStore distribution approval process).  However it’s highly recommended that your application quickly saves its state and quits on pressing Home instead (and quickly reloads that state on the next run).  If an app really really needs to run in the background then the suggested route is a small helper process to do the necessary work.

    If you mean multitasking in the user experience - why?  Just how much can you fit on a small screen? Do you want multiple application windows? If so that requires resizing / cascading / tiling windows.  What a headache.  It has been shown time and time again that a small-screen device needs task *switching* not true multitasking.

  3. I got the SDK. But I’m confused on how to write apps. is there any good place (website) that they can teach you how to write code?
