Rumor update: iPhone 3G to have GPS, Stereo Bluetooth

With the 3G iPhone pretty much confirmed by now, the rumor mill has switched from speculating about the device’s existence to predicting its features. StuffTV just reported that Nike+ would be coming to the iPhone, but the big news is the possibility of GPS and stereo bluetooth on the next phone. Here’s the evidence that points to these features: a series of strings that have been found in the third Beta of the iPhone SDK.

-A string called “HeadphonesBT” contrasts with the current “HeadsetBT” and could indicate Bluetooth A2DP (stereo) headphones are coming
-A string called “RoleGPS” pretty obviously indicates GPS support

Seems concrete enough to us. What other mysteries could the code have in store?

  1. Well, no, the second generation iPhone(g2) will not go to any other carrier for now. Apple has already signed a contract with US carrier AT&T. I just wanted to let you know a couple of other things; just so people wont be dissapointed with the g2. Many of the features that have been mentioned are obviously in the device. GPS will not be offered at part of the device but we and ***** have been working on an external piece which will serve as the GPS basis. Simply we couldnt add this piece inside and still keep the design as sleek as an ipod touch(g1). On the other hand, apple learned from passed mistakes and gave a fair price the new devices. By the way, theres no more 8gb. We though people would like more space for their music and movies so we decided to go for 16gb(599) and 32gb(699). Its actually worth it this time. And there is no 64gb touch for now but there is a bigger memory nano. I cant give any more details or confirm anything else. Lets just wait and see your reactions to what has been done!

  2. Dont know who that is in the post above but he is wrong, so im assuming it is a joke post.
Here’s a couple of the big features version 2 will have: GPS, yes, Steve does read his email and knows exactly what you all are complaining about; cut and paste (finally); we put in more memory, 16 and 32 are offered as stated above but not at those prices, (we want to sell these not push people back into the blackberry camp), they are 499 and 599. Theres a new touch screen, cutting edge stuff, organic emitting and super responsive, nothing on the market comes close, the battery has been upgraded so it lasts much longer, and of course 3G and all the features you heard about in 2.0. It will be here the beginning of june, so hang tight and enjoy.

  3. The hardware for the g1 iPhone is nice, but now that most cell companies started making their phones look like g1 iPhone, I hope the g2 looks more like the iPod Touch nice and stealthy and NO chrome bezel_lol

  7. You are all wrong. I just got done talking to Steve after is morning stroll on the bay. The new iPhone will have 3G, Stereo Bluetooth, 64Gb memory. It actually will not have a traditional battery. We have developed with our partners a new energy storage technology that absorbs energy from the environment, stray RF, shock will be absorbed by new nano-piezo electric transducers, rotational energy will be absorbed by an expanded gyroscopic module and of course a new organic solar skin to pick up stray photons. All of this is packed into only .1mm of thickness. The new iPhone will also let you fly. If you flap it up in down rapidly, it will be able to create enough lift and thrust to propel a 354lb oily unshowerd virgin geek over 50knots until his chetoes power runs out. It will also erase minds. Remember that flashy thingy from MIB? We’ve got one. It can erase up to the last 24hrs of current history in any human mind. We think this will help bring quality romance to a large portion of our current customer base. The last big inovation is still in beta testing. We make very creative use of the new piezo electric tansducers in our “Ramrod” functionality. This beta experiment has proven very popular in the Castro district. It is still unclear if this will make it into iPhone 2.0 June 1st or if it will be delayed and refined for iPhone 3.0 which will be out July 3rd.
