Should Apple Have Waited to Announce the iPhone SDK?

When Apple announced last year that am iPhone SDK was indeed on its way, it got iPhone users and developers excited anticipating the February delivery date. But now that the SDK has been delayed and February is on its way out the door, I wonder whether Apple would have been better off just announcing it when it was ready. What do you think?

  1. They were good to announce it coming as it got others excited, stopped complaints of “no 3rd party apps”, etc.  However, maybe they should of set first quarter instead of a specific month.

  2. I think it stopped millions of potential jailbreaks and raised sales for Xmas. Apple should have been more vague about the exact month, but announcing it beforehand was a good plan.
