imageIn what was one of the more odd episodes in the iPhone world a smiling Chinese girl appears to not have been fired from her job for appearing on a new customers iPhone. The picture appeared in the photo gallery of an iPhone purchaser showed a factory worker in China smiling and posing (innocently) for some pics. The shots appear to have made the girl (woman?) famous on the web.

Given recent stories of Chinese athletes forced to compete and the opening ceremony practices going on 16 hours a day 7 days a week it would seem likely that this girl would be fired. But apparently not. China.org.cn is reporting that the she is not fired:

“She is definitely not fired,” an unidentified representative from Foxconn’s factory in Shenzhen, southern China, told the newspaper Xiandai Kuaibao.

And while we haven’t yet reserved iPhoneGirlMatters.com it appears that someone has (of course!) started up a website tracking this story, iPhonegirl.net (no link because the site is currently down...)

  1. That makes since, as this is not a self-portrait. I want to know what about the guy or girl who took the photo?
