imageAmidst the big hooplah surrounding the new iPod nano with video, the iPod Touch, and the reduced priced iPhones, was an announcement of a new way to use your Apple products at Starbucks.

Starting in October, you can walk into select Starbucks locations, connect to the Wifi, click a Starbucks button on your iPod Touch, iPhone, or Laptop and automatically see what is currently playing in the store. Then, at the touch of the button, you can purchase and download that song to your device via the iTunes Music Store.

“Walk into a participating Starbucks with your laptop, iPhone, or iPod touch and buy whatever’s playing — along with millions of songs on iTunes — while your latte cools.”

Cool right? Well, the coolness doesn’t stop at just ventis and grandes. Imagine how this technology can change the way you interact with places and events and purchase things.

What about going into a Virgin Megastore and doing the same thing. What about a museum where you can download the work of art as your iPhone desktop. A movie theatre where you can download a trailer or other bonus content. Could you imagine attending a Pearl Jam concert and downloading the bootleg to your iPod or iPhone in realtime? No more trading cds or buying hard copy bootlegs.

Using the mobile device as the cashier is the future. This Starbucks program is just the beginning…
