The First Video Taken From the iPhone Camera?
Not sure how real this is, but so far, everything I know about this video seems legit. I received an email from an Apple Store employee in California (I will not list the name here) who claims to have taken this video in his store using the iPhone. As you will see in the video, you can see the iPhone in the iMac screen (picked up by the iSight). Apparently, he wasn’t doing what he was supposed to be doing because it gets interrupted in the middle and someone asks him what he was doing.
If this video is legit, I am not sure how I feel about the quality of the iPhone camera. Maybe it is because the guy has a shakey hand. The sender admitted it was further compressed to email to me. Will see if this anonymous tipster can send me the original video at full quality. What do you think?
As soon as I can declare definitively whether this is a hoax or not I will post an update here. For now, view the video.

I don’t know, the movie quality does look pretty bad, I would hope that the iPhone had a better camera than that. I thought the iPhone didn’t have a video camera, maybe Steve wanted to leave that as a surprise in June.

Wow, that is absolutely a fake. The audio “Hey, what are you doing?” is a high quality audio recording (not the audio you get from a tiny microphone). The phone also looks like that paper mockup that was sent around a while ago.
-
built in iSights record images mirrored (flipped) the apple logo on the back of the phone isn’t reversed. Fake
-
The iphone will HAVE to have a video camera built into it. There is no way Apple can release such an advanced phone and it not do video.
But this video has to be a fake. The quality isn’t that great. -
That such a lame fake… Someone needs a new hobby.
-
it’s a fake. the apple logo, the sound, the not matching movement in the screen. but a nice way to get more visitors
idea: great, realization: could be better.
-
anyone else notice it looks like he’s using imovie to replay the video?
the “iphone” movement on screen doesnt match the hand movement of the “iphone” he’s holding…
-
Obvious fake. The camera supposedly seen by the iMac’s camera is shown 90 degrees (completely sideways) while the supposed iPhone taking this video is only about 45° off from looking straight at the iMac. Definite fake.
-
That audio in the background does sound different from the “Hey What are you doing” audio. How can you see the apple logo to tell if its not reversed, its all fuzzy.
-
Forget that the Apple Logo isn’t flipped mirror image. How about his whole mouse-arm?
That, and no Apple Retail employee would ever see an iPhone until after its release date.
-
definite fake. end audio is a dead give away.
-
It is definitely a fake.
1. There are several times in the video where the camera doing the recording is slanted sideways, but the fakePhone on the screen is straight up and down.
2. He’s using iMovie, not iChat’s preview window, which means it could have easily been pre-recorded. (However, iMovie’s import from iSight function doesn’t flip the image to look like a mirror, so the video is correct in that respect.)
3. The green light from the iSight isn’t on.
-
It’s a fake - where is the camera? There should be a black dot in one of the corners (I’m not sure which because I can’t tell if it’s flipped).

Fälschung. Article truqué. Vervalsing. ???. ?????????. Falsificazione. ???. ??. Falsificação. ?????????. Falsificación. In any language, even English - Fake.
-
Fake. The employee does not have the correct tshirt.
-
It’s a fake.
You will not be able to see iPhone’s camera quality by the release.I am 100% sure.
-
one word: fake.
-
Only one other person has made note of the fact that iMovie is on screen. But am I the only one that sees that the PLAY button below the video clip is BLUE, meaning the video seen on the iMac is being PLAYED by iMovie.
Start looking for the obvious next time folks. What’s all this about angles, arms, mirrored image, blah blah blah
-
One other point. Why would Apple put the iSight camera on the backside even if it had one? The still camera is there so you can use screen as a viewfinder. A video camera would more than likely be on the face of the phone by the earpiece, so the phone could support video chats. I don’t mean cell call video chats either…this phone supports WiFi like all the laptops out there doing video chats through iChatAV, so despite what many are saying this phone could do video chatting and in the futture when Edge (which AT&T is upgrading as we speak) is faster, it could do cell video chats.
Enough of that.

hahahah. look’s like a dollar phone video.
you receive “nothing” buddy. quality is extremely poor and it’s impossible for an advanced phone to have a video like that. seriously, look at the movement and everything else. -
The iPhone DOESN’T have video camera capability - either that of I can’t locate the tab to use it.
-
I wonder why video capability is dropped from the feature set? Is it a hardware limitation or is Apple still not ready with the video app? Theoretically speaking, a 2 Meg Camera capable of clicking a quick picture can do a video with atleast gif quality videos is it?
I see the Apple iPhone Software patch rolling in very soon!! mp3 ringtones finally arrived, so is the file explorer!! What next?? Video capability?
