Ok. Wow. Ladies and gentlemen, this is no ordinary band. No, this band performs with… their iPhones and Nintendo DS’s. Using Elektroplankton on the DS, and Pocket Guitar and iAno on the iPhone, this trio manages to pull off some impressive tunes using nothing but the power of touch-screen technology. The reason this surprised me so much is because of an idea I had the other day. While I was playing with Pocket Guitar (if you haven’t done so yet, you should) I imagined a future in which musical instruments were completely replaced by touch-screen interfaces. Think about it- a completely digital sound experience in a package small enough to stuff an entire band in your backpack.

Band member Sebastian Wober says-

“Unfortunately we only have two iPhones, so we dug out that dusty Nintendo DS. But we want to take it further. There are some guys with iPod touches in our neighbourhood, so we’ll gather them and add a drumset with the BeatPhone app and a guitar and lose the DS. So you can expect another song in the next weeks.”
