Turn by Turn Navigation Demoed for iPhone

You won’t find it at the App Store anytime soon but a ALK is demoing turn by turn navigation for the iPhone at CES. is it exciting news? You bet it is, the demo means that it is obviously possible. Of course, just because it is possible doesn’t mean ALK will be able to get it into the App Store. They’d like to though.

Bur Apple might not be so hip on the idea. Tom Tom has had the Turn by Turn thing working for months and it still hasn’t shown up in the App Store. Which leads one to wonder where the hold up is. Turn by Turn isn’t some very hard, next to impossible feature to implement like copy and paste Turn by turn is something almost every wants and something a lot of people would be willing to pay for. With that in mind the easy guess for the reason Turn by Turn hasn’t shown up is because Apple has a reason to keep the applications off the iPhone. The most obvious reason is because Apple is developing a version of Turn by Turn for the iPhone (with some twist of course) and wants to keep the juicy profits for the company’s very own. That is just speculation but something is keeping Turn by Turn off the iPhone and it isn’t a lack of desire on part of customers or a lack of programming by developers. So, if Apple is working on a version of Turn by Turn, we say: “Speed it up man! We’re tired of getting lost!”
