Where does the iPhone rate in your technology hierarchy?
Lately I keep telling people the iPhone has become my #1 computer. It is my “go to computer”, the first one I turn to. Partly that is because it goes everywhere I go (except for the obvious, like swimming and the shower). It has certainly superseded my iMac as my first choice computer.
It’s not perfect, sometimes I do think “this webpage would be easier to access on my Mac”, but I still use the iPhone anyway. The convenience thing keeps winning out over any niggles with a small screen. Likewise, despite the keyboard stealing half the screen, I start many of my articles on the iPhone (and sometimes get well over 500 words down). Again, because of the convenience. It’s always at hand.
What about you reader folks? Where’s the iPhone rate in your technological life?

I am in sales. My iPhone is my primary tool away for the office. The laptop stays docked. Pushed email and Evernote allow this to happen.

I recently had to send my iPhone for service due to the infamous hair line cracks in the back (yes, I have a white iPhone). I did not know how much I used the iPhone until I had to live without it for about 5 days (the process took longer due to the weekend coming in between). My replacement phone was a wonderful Sony Ericsson w810i. It was my favorite phone before I bought the iPhone. I loved using it as a replacement, but I missed the large touchscreen and the functionality. I also noticed I had to be in front of a computer much more often than before, due to the fact that when I have an iPhone at hand, I can avoid having to use the computer for e-mail, twitter, and stuff like that.
Oh… I hate to sound annoying, but I think you can’t abbreviate “does” as “‘s” in your closing question…Where DOES the iPhone rate in your technological life?
Even if in spoken speech you do not say the word DOES, I doubt that in written format you can abbreviate it with an “‘s”.

My iPhone is my number one computer - email, sms, twitter, web and now all these apps…not to mention the phone, camera and best iPod. I bought the original iPhone on release..loved it except for network speed that inhibited from me using it as a compulter. My new 3G is great. Converted the whole house to the iPhone and it is driving us to buy even more Apple products.

I have multiple-Apple computers, a Macbook, Macbook Pro, MacMini & an iPhone (1st Gen) and I use all of them everyday for different purposes. I love my Unibody 2.8ghz MBP but the iPhone is the only one that goes with me everywhere. You can have my iPhone when you pry it from my twitching severed hand!

I have had my iPhone for a total of one week as of today. It has already jumped to the front of the line in my daily routine. No more relying on a laptop if I want to go outside, no more Palm PDA’s to recharge and sync. If the battery life were better it would replace my Dell DJ (yes I know I am the one person in the world that bought one, but it has been a tough little devil.) in a heartbeat.
Considering I am in my mid 30’s, I do not buy a gadget just to be in line with everyone else. That is why I carefully and painstaking compared the iPhone to Blackberry. Had my figers been smaller then I would have bought a Blackberry, as I thought it would withstand more of what I will put a smartphone through. Am I glad now that I went with the iPhone.
The ability to record notes, check all my news outlets and see what is happening on Twitter and Facebook are key *breaks* in my day with out having to leave the job site to do it. The iPhone should be a must have for everyone!

@Kenneth, oh yeah, I feel your pain on the Palm. Loved mine but the recharging and syncing nearly sent me insane. And what did tip me over the edge was the way it would lose everything if the battery went flat.

@Jaime, Thanks. In formal writing I should keep the informal language to a minimum. I do try to watch my contractions because I do have a habit of writing these pieces very informally. But I missed that one and it was definitely a bit hideous.

Well call me a gadgets junkie. I just recently got an iPhoen because I couldn’t wait forever for Verizon and I love it. It’s great when I am away from home and when I am home it’s 2nd to my Macbook (just got back in February) I use it more for media and social networking and if it starts doing more that what my Cowon A2 does, then it will be the do all device! (Come on hulu!)
If I was to list my gadgets by usage it would look like this:
1. Macbook
2. iPhone
3. Desktop
4. Cowon A2
5. PSP
