Why Should Apple Care About Business?

Endless talk. Debate, debate, and more debating. Some say Apple should make the iPhone good for business. Some people say the iPhone already is a smartphone. Regardless of what type of phone the iPhone is, why should Apple care about business phone use?

Some people say that smartphones only comprise 2% of overall phones used in the United States. I don’t think Apple cares about those 2%. I thinkt hey care about the remaining 98. Don’t you?

So why does everyone compare the iPhone to other smartphones on the market? Well, the price is one factor. Email, internet, and IM capabilities are others.\ I think the wrong assumptions are being made. People are explaining why Apple is going to fail in the business segment because of it’s closed architecture, high prices, and reliance on slow networks. Instead, they should be talking about how the iPhone will take what has predominantly thought of as mobile business tasks, and make it commonplace for general consumers.

So forget about loading Blackberry capabilities on the iPhone. (Let the Crack addicts stick with their Crackberrys) Instead, get ready for the new standard in all phones, not just those used in business.

  1. Exactly! You hit the nail on the head. This is exactly the point that I’ve been saying all along.
