Why won’t you be getting an iPhone

Some people just don’t get Apple. Others have legitimate reasons for not getting an iPhone, like the fact that they get no Cingular reception at their house. What are your reasons for not even thinking of getting an iPhone? Enter it in the poll below and discuss in the forums.

  1. Two things. Firstly, it is extremely expensive, and dear Apple Computer International, Inc does not give Indian students discounts. Secondly, 8 GB of storage just doesn’t seem like enough. I’ve been spoiled by the 20 GB on my iPod U2 colour.

  2. Too early in the game….everything is way too new….new touch screen technology….portable OS X…Apple in the phone business….battery life…way too many questions.

  3. Because I’ll be living in China, and despite all the high tech in this gadget, it won’t work there. I’d like to use one, but I can pretty much guarantee they’ll never make a model compatible with China’s pay-as-you-go cell service.

Even if there was one for China, it would have to be pretty damn cheap, too. $499 even with a contract? Holy smokes. That would get me 3 or 4 years of cell service in China, including a good phone! Oh well…

  4. I read the poll results and wasn’t really shocked. This is exactly what Apple wants. Create an market of exclusivity and it enhances the desire to acquire. The product will work extremely well and everyone will talk about it. It will become an status icon and Apple will slowly make it more accessible. It is they’re strategy. Everything they do is very deliberate. How much control do you have over your desire? Me, im buying one wink

  5. I think a lot of people will probably change their tune after they see the iPhone in action for the first couple months.  So much now is speculation, and the iPhone isn’t even finished yet.  We’ll just have to wait and see.

  6. How about the lack of 3g support and absolutely shocking 5hour battery length? iPhone might be a step forward for the US but it seems like a major step backwards in Europe or elsewhere where smartphones have been available for a while. Think i’d rather get that other handset that the iphone (from appearances and software) to have been ripped off from.

  7. For me its Cingular. Through my work I get a fantastic deal from Sprint which no one has even come close to matching. I get good service (as good as you can get from any cell carrier these days) from Sprint and would certainly not pay that much for a phone AND switch to a carrier that costs me more that is reputed to have terrible customer service. The fact that you can only get it from Cingular is a bad mistake. I wonder if like the Razr it will soon be available from any carrier…

  8. The iPhone is about to unleash a whole new level of advertising on us.
