Would A Manageable And Mobile iTunes Makes Sense?

image The iTunes Wi-Fi Store is nigh upon us for not only the iPhone but also the iPod Touch. What seems to be missing from the equation is a manageable iTunes library in that you no longer need a Mac to maintain your content.

It’s already getting to the point where iTunes no longer just manages your music, it now manages your devices from the iPod to the Apple TV, your Mac and even your iPhone. I’m not citing the potential strain of resources to maintain this but it seems rather odd to tether a mobile device so much to one computer.

IPods are gaining Wi-Fi and full Internet features, iPhones are among the few Smart Phones that work exceptionally well and tie in well with Apple’s focus on media. Even though the Wi-Fi store is forthcoming and will allow us to download songs and sync them back and forth, it makes sense to enable users to manage their media from their iPhones such as album info editing, download Podcasts and new TV shows on Wi-Fi and even download new content to ad to your library besides songs.

I don’t expect to see this any time soon though, this would only serve a purpose for iPhone and iPod Touch owners and it would be better for Apple to wait until all iPods gain the iPhone interface.

Even then it makes sense to implement a file browser as well that works across the OS and not just iTunes. It would be obvious once Apple creates a file manager for the iPod there would be a huge demand for it to be implemented into other Apps as well.

As we move away from our computers and carry more content with us I would hope Apple takes notice and allows us to manage our media without relying on a computer but instead do it from our iPods and iPhones.
