I’d wait on applying screen protectors until a few guinea pigs give it a try.  The new touch technology may not work through them.  From their explanation, it appears they should, but it’s not yet certain.

Check out Apple’s iPhone technology page:

From the video I’ve seen of them trying to scratch the screen I really am not too worried that it’s something that can easily be done.  I’ve contemplated just putting it in my pocket with nothing else, but I still can’t seem to leave the comfort of the belkin leather holster I bought (which covers the screen.) Before I bought the iPhone a screen protector seemed like a top priority to me, but now seeing the glass’ durability I am more concerned about the sides and back of the iPhone getting scratched rather than the screen.

Here’s the link to that video

I intend to carry mine around in a leather holster on my belt to protect it.  I’ve just ordered one from Prima Cases to try out:

Back on topic, it’s pretty clear that if you do adhere a protective film on the glass screen, that it will still work just fine.  I have to wait until late next month to activate mine to avoid a termination fee with Verizon, so in the meantime I’ve set the iPhone in its dock to occasionally check its charge, and left the plastic covering that came on it in place.  I’ve found that I can easily power it up and operate the default screen icons just fine through the plastic.

A screen protector must be the lightest accessory of an iphone. And a good screen protector should meet the below criterions :
#! High-Quality Material, Transparency, No Bubbles
#2 Against scratching, scraping & abrasion
#3 Removable without leaving residuary mark
#4 Resistance to erosion & fingerprint
#5 Anti-Reflective, Non-corrosive
#6 size: 7x5.1cm or a little exceed that
not sure whether everyone consider a screen protector is essential but i’d like to commender this if you need

You know what? Since having the iPhone since day 1 and carrying it around in my pocket my screen is fine. No scratches. I am careful not to have it in a pocket with keys or change, but so far so good!
