Turns out Apple still sells games for the click wheel iPod. Which comes as a bit of surprise, who knew people still bought the things much less enjoyed gaming on them? Really, if you’re looking for Apple branded portable gaming you’re better off with a touch or iPhone. Well that’s my take but I gave on click wheel games when I didn’t find that parachute game a completely immersive experience.
Personal bias aside it seems that there still are games being created for the classic iPod and people are still buying them. But things have taken a darker turn since the App Store rolled out. Now all the iPod gamers apparently do nothing but grouse about the price of games. At least that is the state of things according to Kirk Hiner writing for AppleTell. It is a nicely written article but the best line is the last one:
The App Store pricing system is a broken mess. The iPod Games pricing system is not. What do you say we fix the one that’s broken rather than break the one that’s fixed?
