iPhone 3G Guided Tour Reveals More

Yesterday, when the iPhone 3G guided tour was released, I watched it getting bored at what I already knew, but as I continued watching, I noticed some things.

Briefly alluded to during the iPhone 3G’s introduction at WWDC, the “dramatically improved audio” of the updated iPhone is now attributed directly to its new microphone and speakers.

I like the look of the new speakers and I hope they are just as good as Steve Jobs says they are. By the speakers I noticed something unlike Apple however.

A look at the bottom of the device also shows two screws at either end of the Dock Connector. Hmmm? Apple normally hides anything that resembles a screw, but it is clear as day on the iPhone 3G.

I guess it’ll make it easier for those who disassemble electronics to gain access easier.

Also, while watching the highly anticipated 2.0 software guided tour, the front view of the App Store shows an AIM application that may likely be released July 11th. This may be a reasoning behind not including text messaging to the contract.… more...

New iPhone Ads Released

I always like looking at the new ads for the iPhone. Yesterday, Apple released 3 great iPhone ads. Bet, Brilliant, and Music Store.

The new ads follow the same theme as their previous iPhone commercials, demonstrating specific features on the iPhone. “Bet” shows how easy it is to lookup information on Safari to win a Bet. “Brilliant” demonstrates the iPhone’s new “locate me” GPS-like functionality, and Music Store shows off the iTunes Wifi Music Store.

Check them out, if you haven’t already.

Video Demonstration of the iPhone 2.0 Beta

With the introduction of an Interface Builder and revised APIs, developers have a more complete set of tools to work with to make our experience just a little bit better.

Below is a video demonstration of PhotoBoard, an application that looks amazing. The program presents a grid surface upon which photos from the user library can be laid. The grid can then be navigated, and photos rotated and manipulated.

Check it out. The program kind of reminds me of Microsoft’s Surface, which has some nifty effects.

I am assuming more and more videos will be posted demonstrating the iPhone 2.0 features we are all excited to get out hand on ourselves.

Not too exciting, but I cam across one video on YouTube flicking through apps and settings on the iPhone, pointing out that it is indeed the firmware 2.0.

iPhone Version Of Doom Still In Development And Making Progress

Posted January 2, 08 10:00 AM by Tanner Godarzi

When Installer first arrived on the scene, one of the most praised projects was a working version of Doom for the iPhone. The Application was far from done but such a monumental undertaking motivated developers to create games along with working emulators. The good news is Doom for the iPhone won’t be going the way of Duke Nukem Forever.

Stephen T recently took over development from Stepwhite and sent TUAW a video demonstrating the new control system implemented. While the games runs much smoother than previous builds and in Widescreen mode, using a finger to navigate may prove to be a hassle in a first person shooter, you might block out your aim and decrease response time.

Here’s hoping to a steady development because if it can’t run Doom, it ain’t worth buying…

Video Of 1.1.3 Update Surfaces, Still No Takedowns!

Categories: News Legal Videos

As if a screenshot and video tidbit weren’t enough to appease the ravage appetites of the iPhone community and conspiracy theorists, a new video has been released of the Firmware in action via Gearlive. Oddly enough, Apple hasn’t whipped out the legal hammer just yet.

The reason being seems odd, normally the Cupertino based company employs such precision in these matters that even James Bond tips his hat off but besides that is a new 8 minute video showing all of the awesome features in 1.1.3 including:

-Multi recipient Messaging
-Google Maps Locate Me
-Safari Bookmarks on the home screen
-Rearrange home screen icons

In addition, the wireless carrier is listed as Nate which prompts suspicion as to whether or not this is a genuine demonstration but the change comes from Erica Sadun’s Make It Mine App. MIM changes the wireless carrier name and can survive Firmware upgrades as the user data resides in an area on the iPhone not touched by the updater.

Chalk this up to, “Not sure if it’s legit or not, but who cares?”

I stumbled across this site that is selling what they call the iWash for your iPhone. Basically, it is a video of a woman in a bikini that wipes down your screen and then uses a squeegee to wipe it down. Or if you prefer blondes, you can get the iBlonde. Both are at a bargain price of $4.99. You will not find me paying the 5 bucks to try it out. Fortunately, we have a video to see it in action.
