I Am Legend: More Than Just An Awesome Movie

imageIt’s official! “I Am Legend” is now my favorite horror film. Not only does it have a great plot, and main actor, it also has a website. Like many other movies, the website explains the movie and gets people excited. When visiting the website, there was something that caught my attention. The Official “I Am Legend” website has a dedicated iPhone page! Wow, and they put a lot of effort into the design. It is awesome that one of my favorite movies now has a page dedicated to one of my favorite things.  The iPhone page has wallpapers and many extras. “I Am Legend” is awesome.

This movie is awesome in every way. Go and see it not only because it is great, but because it has an iPhone page. If you have seen it you must agree with me that it was a tremendously good movie.

Go to iamlegend.com, and the page will auto format for either desktop or iPhone.

iPhone Fanboyism Gone Wrong, Horribly Wrong

Posted October 29, 07 2:00 PM by Tanner Godarzi

The spirit of Halloween has people dressing up in everything imaginable from favorite movie characters to something generic but this costume takes the cake as probably the best show of iPhone fanboyism.

A costume just of the iPhone itself would’ve been enough but these two took it a step, or two further by rigging up an HD display to look exactly like an iPhone display. If you’re thinking these kids somehow managed to steal a real iPhone advertising display from an Apple store, you’re off the mark. Apparently they were able to snag the video that runs on the displays while powering it from a portable car battery.

As absurd as this may be, you’ve got to give them credit for actually going through with this and displaying it on the Internet for our viewing pleasure.

Now, for the actual picture and a YouTube video.

Either way, you have to give them credit for towing around a 60 pound iPhone costume.

Apple Commercials Take Down Mentioned Site

Apparently the new iPhone Ads have been a smash hit not only for the actors but for their web servers as well.

One iPhone ad had mentioned thewinger.com, unfortunately it ceases to load. Perhaps too many people wanted to see what a Ballerina had to do with an iPhone.

iPhone User Looks for a Controversy at the Apple Store

Posted October 22, 07 5:00 AM by Gregory Ng

It’s always tough to see a well meaning customer get seemingly “shafted” by the company they trusted. But it is even more sad when you see someone looking for a fight.

This brings us to the latest example of someone looking for a fight with Apple. “Jake B.” is a guy who decides to bring in his broken iPhone to the Apple Store to get replaced. The problem is his iPhone did not have a valid AT&T contract associated to it and thus, was denied help.

Poor Jake B. thought that because his phone was registered, he could take advantage of the iPhone’s one-year limited hardware warranty from Apple. He was wrong as you can see and hear for yourself in this video:

The real issue that I have is Jake B. doesn’t use his real name. And why would anyone who truly believes they are in the right, think to videotape the entire thing? One reason: he was looking for a controversy.

My mind is made up about this one:… more...

Gold Coat Your iPhone To Show Of Your Superiority To Mere Mortals

Posted October 9, 07 7:00 AM by Tanner Godarzi

imageIt’s a typical bias that all Apple products are perfect they way they are and any hackery design wise is idiotic. Most of the time it’s badly placed but I think it’s safe to ask, who the hell would gold coat their iPhone?

However if you’ve got quite a bit of cash to blow on gold plating your iPhone’s rim, not the back nor front, just the rim, perhaps the most useless part of the iPhone, hit up http://www.goldstriker.co.uk/personal.html and hope it falls within your yearly pay scale. Honestly I’d rather coat the screen and make it very, very, very reflective but get off with the excuse of “personal defense” should it blind anyone with its holy light.

Nokia Siezes The Opportunity, Taunts Apple With Potential Of Unlocked Phones

Posted October 2, 07 2:00 PM by Tanner Godarzi

Nokia, one of the biggest cellular manufacturers has taken the opportunity to taunt Apple in the phone business by advertising the advantages of unlocked phones. Last week, Apple mass bricked iPhones while Nokia stealthily rolled out their “unlock” campaign.

Picture Below

In addition to ad banners, Nokia is utilizing the publicity to pump up the N95, their high end smart phone that has been heralded as an iPhone killer that is competitively priced. You can see more of the web ads by hitting up nseries.com/open.

Anyways, Apple isn’t going to get off so easily on this one, its a very sensitive issue right now which is causing quite an uproar right now. It would be so easy for competitors to point out “Hey, Apple is locking you in while we’ll let you use your phone wherever you want!”

Epic Fail At Design, iPhone Nano

Before you get your panties in a bunch and declare to your family and friends that from the deepest bowels of Cupertino someone has recovered the iPhone Nano in such a way that it would make Indiana Jones jealous just look at the picture first then tell me if it takes you any more than 2 seconds to tell the difference.

Spoiler: It’s fake if you can’t tell by now and Gizmodo (credit to Gizmodo for the shot and Jesus Diaz for the Photoshop’ed pirate face) got exclusive pics of this from the nether regions of IFA2007.

Funny: What iPhone.com Looked In 1998

Posted August 28, 07 10:00 AM by Tanner Godarzi

image I wasn’t as tech savvy as I was in 1998 as I am now but apparently the possibility of VOIP existed. That’s cool, 10 years later and it still isn’t as widespread as it should but instead of embracing it one man feared it…

Looking at this today I can’t tell if an AT&T employee had access to a crystal ball and foresaw the destruction of Telcos but this is too damn funny.

I am quoting the site here:

Help Us fight the use of the Internet to replace telephone service as we know it!!!!!!!!!

Oh and this just happens to be iPhone.com in 1998-99. I suppose this guy thinks we’ll see a VOIP based iPhone, maybe 3rd generation?

iPhone Coming To O2 And Vodafone? Currently a Rumor

Posted August 20, 07 7:00 AM by Tanner Godarzi
Categories: Advertising Business O2 Web Stunt

image While we have been tossed around the rumor mill concerning the iPhone’s upcoming European launch, we still have news coming about on possible carriers and this time it is O2 and Vodafone.

Whether this rumor holds any weight has yet to be determined but could be false even though a popular retailer is running with this.

The closest thing we have to anything official is that O2 may have won an exclusive contract with Apple to carry the iPhone. While this has yet to be confirmed it is all we have.

However there was a brief posting at Mobiles.co.uk (now pulled) that listed the iPhone for O2 and Vodafone. The link for an O2 iPhone had appeared here and a Vodafone iPhone here

Currently the both links redirect to http://www.mobiles.co.uk/lg-prada.html displaying the LG Prada on either network. It just goes to show that even online retailers can fall victim to online rumors.
