$1000 App Gets Purchased by 8 People
If you have been keeping up with the news, or happen to witness the $999.99 app in the iTunes App Store, then you may know about Apple pulling it a day after it was released. Although the release of the app sparks some questions on Apple’s behalf, what is even more troubling is that 8 people actually purchased this app.
Dubbed “I Am Rich,” this app simply displayed a a red jewel on your iPhone screen. Nothing more, nothing less. But if you happen to glance a little to the right of the “I Am Rich” info screen, you would notice the $999.99 price tag. Ouch!
I wouldn’t have expected for anyone to purchase this app, but I was overwhelmed by the 8 individuals that purchased the app - accidently of course.
One gentleman explains that he was simply clicking the “buy” button to see if it was some kind of practicle joke. He found out otherwise when he noticed the $1000 charge on his credit card and promptly posted the review in the App Store:
THIS IS NO JOKE. “DO NOT BUY THIS… more...
iTunes 7.7 to Have Remote Feature for iPhone/iPod Touch
A reference in the late beta version of iTunes available with iPhone SDK Beta 8 points to a new Apple-made program that will navigate tracks on Macs and Windows PCs from any of Apple’s current handhelds which would be the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I figured an application would come forth like this eventually. I remember a patent a while ago that indicated this feature.
Beyond the new remote functionality, iTunes 7.7 is also known to add an Applications tab to let you specify loading only certain software on the phone, and will be necessary for both iPhone 3G and the MobileMe sync service.
Looking forward to the features to come!
Blackjack and Mahjong Planned for AppStore
Perhaps we have forgotten about the iPhone 2.0 beta and the features that’ll come, not only to the 3G iPhone, but to existing iPhones as well. Specifically, the AppStore in which many of the cool software will be released.
Games are going to be a huge success for iPhones. Apple knows this, and game developers know this as well. That is why I am thinking most of the Apps will be games.
Of all the games that are likely to be releases, two of them will be Blackjack and Mahjong.
Mobileage says it will be offering two games for the iPhone and iPod Touch through the iTunes App Store later this year. Blackjack21 is described as the definitive version of the world’s most popular casino card game.
“Blackjack 21 offers super seamless gameplay as it responds to the same gestures used in a live game. You can further customize the game by directly downloading awesome card and table art for free.”
TouchTile Mahjong is described as the classic tile matching game for iPhone and iPod Touch.
“Finally you can transform those… more...
Installer.App Updated
Installer.app has been updated with some, from what I hear, annoyances.
Installer.app received a search feature, and the slight hesitation after installing new programs that sends you back to your unlock screen, has been fixed.
It now quickly relaunches your Home Screen to seamlessly load the newly downloaded programs, which essentially makes Installer.app and its functions even more integrated into the iPhone.
Other noteworthy items in the update include the ability to refresh one source at a time and a search feature in the Uninstall category.
Now in v3.11, Installer.app is becoming a powerhouse of a program and perhaps the most integrated native app that jailbreaking has to offer.
Installer.app is automatically installed when you jailbreak your iPhone with iLiberty+ or ZiPhone.
Record With Your iPhone
If I were still in college, I would be one of the coolest kids using my iPhone to record lectures. I would proudly place in on the desk and press record....but how?
That’s what iPhone Recorder offers, together with the ability to directly record audio to ringtones without any computer necessary!
Dynamic volume adjustment, channel and bitrate control, and a choice of mp3, mp4 and aac file formats round out a decent range of options; you can also directly attach them to an email from the app itself.
Right now (AppStore coming soon!) iPhone Recorder requires a Jailbroken handset, and if that so happens to be the case, you’ll have to pay $30.00 which is kind of pricey if you ask me.
It is great to see some recording capabilities open up though. Go ahead and get yourself a copy, and tell me how you like it.
ZiPhone Gets an Update
If you aren’t quite sure what ZiPhone is, allow mw to explain. ZiPhone is one of the (if not the only) most popular tools for automatically jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones.
Yesterday, the software has updated to version 3.0 and includes some much anticipated features by some. They include, No more need of fix nvram, solution for GREYED wifi, no need for YouTube Fixes, embedded apps installer, and customized plugins.
The new release is available in both Mac and Windows versions and you can get it here. Enjoy!
Video Demonstration of the iPhone 2.0 Beta
With the introduction of an Interface Builder and revised APIs, developers have a more complete set of tools to work with to make our experience just a little bit better.
Below is a video demonstration of PhotoBoard, an application that looks amazing. The program presents a grid surface upon which photos from the user library can be laid. The grid can then be navigated, and photos rotated and manipulated.
Check it out. The program kind of reminds me of Microsoft’s Surface, which has some nifty effects.

Put Your DVDs On Your iPhone Easily
I have an extensive collection of DVDs that I have been trying to digitally store so I can easily watch them on my portables, but never found the best and easiest way to do this. There is hope.
HandBrake, a free Mac OS X/Windows utility for ripping videos from DVDs and saving them in various formats has been updated to include the ability to generate iPhone compatible video at its full size.
It is as simple as downloading and installing the software, inserting the desired DVD into your computer’s optical drive and converting.
I love the program and it is as simple as flying a kite, although that can be a difficult task.
Download the utility here.

Listen to Music Stored on iPhone Through Your Computer
With iTunes 7.6, you can now manually manage music on your iPhone. You can’t, however, listen to music stored on your iPhone on your computer. A new release of ecamm’s iPhoneDrive makes that possible - if you’re on a Mac.
PhoneDrive is a tool created for storing files on the iPhone as if it were a removable drive (What Apple should have made possible), much like the iPod’s disk mode function. It can copy music and other media to or from the iPhone or iPod Touch.
Version 1.4 allows you to play music stored on the iPhone or iPod Touch. The new release also lets you access (and copy) call logs, SMS messages, and photos from the camera.
You can try this software for 7 days, then after that, you are going to have to pay $20.00. After my 7 day trial, I am impressed with the softwares’ capabilities. I had no problems and able to use my iPhone just as I pictured when it was first released. That, of course, changed when that “disk mode” feature was left out.
Try it out here!
more...iPhone Guitar Hero?
I’ve never been a fan of Guitar Hero, but I am pretty interested in Pocket Guitar.
Pocket Guitar is a virtual guitar that transforms your iPhone and iPod Touch into workable guitar frets. Play a chord and strum your iPhone for an experience in music you thought you could never have and may have never wanted.
Pocket Guitar even lets you kick out the jams with songs loaded on your iPhone.
Pocket Guitar is super simple to install and you can find it here. Now if you could excuse me, I am going to work on my acoustic masterpiece!
